Puerto Viejo

You are met at Juan Santamaria Airport and driven east to the Caribbean coast, checking in around 3pm. Spend the afternoon on the nearby beaches, or wander the town for its shops and local cooking.
Cahuita
Day 2 · Cahuita
Enter the park at Playa Blanca and follow the coastal trail to Punta Cahuita, a guided walk of about 7 km with calm water to swim in along the way. Look out for sloths, white-faced and howler monkeys, anteaters, blue morpho butterflies, orchids and bromeliads.
San Jose
Day 3 · San Jose
After a last breakfast, you are collected from your hotel at the agreed time for the transfer back to Juan Santamaria Airport.

Fly into San José and head north to La Fortuna, at the foot of the Arenal Volcano, for two nights of hot springs, a gentle river float and lunch with a local family. Cross Lake Arenal by boat to Monteverde for a guided walk in the cloud forest, then return to the airport on day four.
