A short domestic flight carries you south from San José to Puerto Jiménez, with views over the country on the way. Hotel staff meet you at the airstrip for the three minute drive to the hotel, and the rest of the day is yours by the pool or in the gardens.

Day 2 · Matapalo, Osa Peninsula
Set out in an adapted 4x4 along forest roads towards Matapalo, watching the canopy for monkeys, pairs of scarlet macaws, sloths, toucans and bright frogs. Your naturalist guide carries a powerful spotting scope for close views and explains how the peninsula's ecosystems fit together, with stops for photographs along the way.

After breakfast, the hotel takes you to the Puerto Jiménez airstrip for the flight back to San José, where the trip ends.
