You are met at Juan Santamaria Airport and taken by shared transfer to Jaco, checking in around 3pm. Spend the rest of the day on the beach under the palms, or wander the town's shops, bars and restaurants.
Day 2 · Jaco
A short ride in a purpose-built tractor takes you up the hill, where the guides run through the safety steps. You then ride down across 12 platforms and 10 cables, 3.5 km in all, including the longest cable on the central Pacific coast. The rest of the day is free.
San Jose
Day 3 · San Jose
After a last breakfast, you are collected from your hotel at the agreed time for the transfer to Juan Santamaria Airport.

Two nights in La Fortuna, in sight of Arenal Volcano, with a guided walk to look for sloths and time for the hotel's thermal pools. Cross Lake Arenal by boat to the misty highlands of Monteverde for a guided night walk in the cloud forest.

Fly into San José and head north to La Fortuna, at the foot of the Arenal Volcano, for two nights of hot springs, a gentle river float and lunch with a local family. Cross Lake Arenal by boat to Monteverde for a guided walk in the cloud forest, then return to the airport on day four.
