Nairobi
Day 1 · Nairobi
You are met at the airport and driven to your hotel. The afternoon is free to rest after the flight, or to head into the city centre a few kilometres away.
Maasai Mara
Day 2 · Maasai Mara
After a safari briefing, drive through the highlands and down the Rift Valley escarpment on a road built by Italian prisoners of war, past the small chapel they left at its foot. Cross wheat and barley country by way of Narok to reach the Mara for lunch, then set out on your first game drive until sunset.
Day 3 · Maasai Mara
An early breakfast and a morning game drive in search of lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo and the rest of the reserve's wildlife. Back at camp for lunch and a rest, then out again in the afternoon, with a stop at a Maasai village to learn about local customs.
Lake Nakuru and Lake Elementaita
Day 4 · Lake Nakuru and Lake Elementaita
Leave the Mara after breakfast and cross the plains of the valley floor, watching for giraffe and gazelle, to reach your lodge on Lake Elementaita around midday. In the afternoon, a game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, known for its flamingos, its black and white rhinos and the rare Rothschild's giraffe.
Lake Naivasha and Nairobi
Day 5 · Lake Naivasha and Nairobi
After an early breakfast, take a boat out on Lake Naivasha to watch the birds and wildlife along its shores. Then leave the Rift Valley for Nairobi, where you are dropped in the city centre or at the airport in the early afternoon.
