Nairobi
Day 1 · Nairobi
You are met at the airport and taken to your hotel, set in quiet gardens of jacaranda and acacia beside Central Park. The afternoon is free to rest or visit the city centre.
Maasai Mara
Day 2 · Maasai Mara
Leave early down the Rift Valley escarpment, past the small chapel built by Italian prisoners of war, and on through the wheat country around Narok. You reach your lodge for lunch, then head out on your first game drive, back as the sun goes down.
Day 3 · Maasai Mara
Morning and afternoon game drives in search of lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino, with lunch and a rest at the lodge in between. The afternoon includes a visit to a Maasai village.
Lake Nakuru and Lake Elementaita
Day 4 · Lake Nakuru and Lake Elementaita
Cross the Rift Valley floor and climb the Mau Escarpment, with a picnic lunch on the way. An afternoon game drive in fenced Lake Nakuru National Park looks for black and white rhino, Rothschild’s giraffe and the flamingos on the shore, before a night beside Lake Elementaita.
Amboseli
Day 5 · Amboseli
Leave the Rift Valley after an early breakfast, with lunch in Nairobi or a picnic on the road, and continue south to Amboseli. In the evening, watch from the lodge terrace as elephants and plains game come in to graze.
Day 6 · Amboseli
A morning and an afternoon on game drives across the dry lake bed, grassland and swamps of Amboseli, with lunch back at the lodge. Kilimanjaro rises above the park all day, and the birdlife around the swamps is rich.
Nairobi
Day 7 · Nairobi
A last look at Kilimanjaro after breakfast, then the drive north across the Athi Plains. You reach Nairobi or the airport at about 1.30 pm, in time for flights from 4 pm.
