Day 1 · Tolo
Pick up your car at Athens airport and follow the coast road to the Corinth Canal. Stop at Mycenae, the Bronze Age seat of Agamemnon, then at Epidaurus for its ancient theatre and its famous acoustics. Arrive in the seaside village of Tolo by late afternoon.
Olympia
Day 2 · Olympia
A swim off one of the beaches near Tolo, then a short drive to Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece, for lunch in its old town. In the afternoon choose the inland road or the coast along the Gulf of Kyparissia to Olympia.
Delphi
Day 3 · Delphi
See the sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, where the Games began, and the archaeological museum a few minutes' walk away. Then drive north through small villages, with an optional detour to the port city of Patras, to Delphi for the night.
Kalambaka
Day 4 · Kalambaka
Visit the sanctuary of Apollo and the oracle at the foot of Mount Parnassos, and its museum. The drive north is long, so break it with a stop or two, and reach Kalambaka as the Meteora rocks come into view.
Meteora and Athens
Day 5 · Meteora and Athens
Spend the morning among the UNESCO-listed monasteries perched on the sandstone towers of Meteora, with their Byzantine art. Then drive south to Athens airport and return your car.

You spend two nights in Athens with a choice of the Acropolis, the Plaka or the Peloponnese before boarding at Piraeus. The ship calls at volcanic Milos, Kalamata and Corfu, then sails up the Adriatic to Kotor in Montenegro and Dubrovnik. After a day at sea you arrive in Venice.
