Day 1 · Athens
You are met at the airport and driven to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for a walk through Plaka, a coffee in Agia Irini Square or the shops of Adrianou Street.
Day 2 · Athens
A free day to find your own way around the capital, from the Acropolis and its museum to the neighbourhoods below it.
Mycenae and Nafplio
Day 3 · Mycenae and Nafplio
Follow the coast road to a short stop at the Corinth Canal, then visit Mycenae, the city of the legendary Agamemnon, with its palace, the Lion Gate and his tomb. After lunch, carry on through Argos to Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece, below the Palamidi fortress and facing the islet of Bourtzi, before returning to Athens.
Delphi and Kalambaka
Day 4 · Delphi and Kalambaka
Drive by way of Thebes, Livadia and the mountain village of Arachova to Delphi, once home to the most famous oracle of the ancient world, and visit the archaeological site. Continue through central Greece to Kalambaka for dinner and the night.
Meteora
Day 5 · Meteora
Visit the monasteries of Meteora, set on top of towering rocks and still holding centuries of religious treasures. Return to Athens by way of Trikala and Lamia, with a short stop at Thermopylae to see the monument to Leonidas.
Athens
Day 6 · Athens
Meet your guide in the centre for a Greek coffee, then taste your way across the city: koulouri from the street, olive oils at a speciality shop, baklava, and souvlaki at a well-loved grill. Walk through the Varvakios market and along the spice street, and finish at a deli with meze, cheeses and cured meats.
Day 7 · Athens
Spend the day in the city at your own pace, or join a day cruise to the Saronic islands, with time ashore on Poros, Hydra and Aegina.
Day 8 · Athens
Breakfast at the hotel, then a transfer to Athens airport.

You spend two nights in Athens with a choice of the Acropolis, the Plaka or the Peloponnese before boarding at Piraeus. The ship calls at volcanic Milos, Kalamata and Corfu, then sails up the Adriatic to Kotor in Montenegro and Dubrovnik. After a day at sea you arrive in Venice.
