Day 2 · Bangkok
A half-day tour starts at Wat Traimit, home of a three metre Buddha of solid gold, then crosses Chinatown to Wat Pho and its 46 metre Reclining Buddha. At the Grand Palace you see the old royal halls and Wat Phra Kaew, the temple of the Emerald Buddha, finishing at a gem and jewellery showroom.
Maeklong and Damnoen Saduak
Day 3 · Maeklong and Damnoen Saduak
At Maeklong Railway Market the stalls fold back from the tracks just minutes before each train edges through. Then on to Damnoen Saduak, where boats loaded with fruit and vegetables crowd the canals, before the drive back to Bangkok.
Kanchanaburi
Day 4 · Kanchanaburi
Leave early for Kanchanaburi to visit the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre and the Allied War Cemetery, resting place of some 6,000 prisoners of war who died on the line. After lunch you ride the railway across the original wooden viaduct, then head back to Bangkok.
