At Wedded Wonderland, we share a destination wedding guest guide template and tips that make travel, dress codes and etiquette simple for every guest. On top of it, we help couples bring the whole weekend together with ease and mastery.
A destination wedding guest guide is a single document or piece of reference that answers every practical question before guests ask it. It covers how to arrive, where to stay, what to wear and how the weekend unfolds, so guests can focus on celebrating. The best guides read as a warm welcome rather than a list of instructions.
The need is greater at a destination wedding than at a local one. Guests are travelling, often internationally, and they depend on the couple for local knowledge. A clear guide reduces last-minute messages and helps every guest arrive rested and on time.
Our destination wedding guide covers the wider planning journey, and this template focuses on the guest experience. At Wedded Wonderland, we help couples build both, so the weekend feels considered from the first invitation to the last farewell.
The guide below has ten sections that cover everything a guest needs. Typically, a short and well-organised guide works best than a long one.
Section | What to Include | Wedded Wonderland Support |

Weekend itinerary | Events, times, locations and dress code | Planning through our destination wedding planning |

Open with warmth. A short welcome sets the tone for the weekend and reassures guests that the details are handled.
Dear friends and family, Sofia and Daniel are delighted that you will celebrate with us in Positano, Italy, on Saturday 12 June 2027. This guide brings everything you need into one place, and Sofia's sister, Elena, is on hand if you have any questions.
Give a clear deadline and say why it matters. Early replies let the couple confirm venue numbers and accommodation.
Please RSVP by Friday 12 February 2027 on our wedding website. Let us know your arrival and departure dates, dietary requirements and any accessibility needs so we can plan your stay with care.
List the nearest airport, the best arrival days and the transfer plan. Remind guests to check entry requirements early.
The nearest airport is Naples International Airport (NAP), around 90 minutes by road from Positano. We suggest arriving on Thursday 10 June and departing on Monday 14 June. Private transfers will meet guests at the airport between 10am and 6pm on Thursday 10 June and Friday 11 June. Please check that your passport is valid for your travel dates and confirm the entry requirements for Italy on your government's official travel website. Requirements and any fees can change, so we encourage you to check again shortly before you travel.
Explain the room block and the cut-off date. Guests who book inside the block help the couple meet venue minimums.
We have reserved a room block at a hillside hotel in Positano from Thursday 10 June to Monday 14 June. Please book through the link on our wedding website by Monday 12 April to secure the group arrangement.
Present the schedule as a table so guests can scan it on their phones. Include the dress code beside each event.
Day | Time | Event | Dress code | Location |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Friday 11 June | 7pm | Welcome aperitivo | Resort elegant | Hotel terrace |
Saturday 12 June | 5pm | Ceremony and dinner reception | Formal | Clifftop villa |
Sunday 13 June | 11am | Farewell brunch | Relaxed | Hotel terrace |
Name the dress code for each event and mention the terrain, because it affects footwear. A line about weather prevents most packing mistakes.
The dress code for the ceremony and reception is formal. The ceremony is on a stone terrace with several steps, so we suggest block heels or dressy flats. Please avoid anything that resembles bridal attire. Along with your attire, we suggest packing sun protection, a light wrap for the evening, comfortable shoes for Positano's stairs and any medications you need.
Say how guests move between the hotel, the venue and any free-time experiences. Clear transport details keep the weekend punctual.
Shuttles run between the hotel and the villa at 4pm and 4:30pm on Saturday, with a return service from 10pm until midnight. For free time, the hotel desk can arrange boat trips to Capri and private drivers on request.
Share the likely weather and a few customs. Guests appreciate knowing about tipping, currency and dress at religious sites.
In June, expect warm sunny days and mild evenings, so a light wrap is useful after sunset. The currency is the euro, cards are widely accepted, and shoulders and knees should be covered when visiting churches.
Keep this section gentle and clear. A short note prevents awkward questions later.
Your presence is the greatest gift. If you would like to give something, a contribution to our honeymoon fund is available on our wedding website. Invitations are addressed to the guests named on the envelope, and we appreciate your understanding.
Name one point of contact and the hours they are available. A single contact is faster for everyone.
For questions about travel and accommodation, please message Elena through the contact form on our wedding website. She replies within 24 hours, and on the wedding weekend she is available from 8am to 10pm Italian time.
A guest guide works best when it sits inside a wider plan for the weekend. These tips help couples make the guest experience feel effortless.
Send the save-the-date early. For an international wedding, 9 to 12 months gives guests time to arrange leave and flights. Follow with the invitation and the guest guide once the venue and itinerary are confirmed.
Build a simple wedding website. A single page with the guide, the RSVP and the itinerary keeps every detail in one place, and Wonderland Studio can help shape it.
Negotiate a room block early. Guests who book inside the block help the couple meet venue minimums, so state the cut-off date clearly and repeat it in reminders.
Consider hosting part of the weekend. Many couples cover transfers, a welcome dinner or a farewell brunch, which lifts the guest experience and keeps the group together.
Plan for arrival and departure days. A welcome gathering on the first evening and a relaxed brunch on the last give guests a natural start and finish, and our wedding planning tools keep the guest list and seating in order.
If you are still choosing a destination, our destination wedding quiz is a helpful place to begin.
Guests make the weekend easier for the couple with a few simple habits. These tips cover the points that matter most.
RSVP as soon as you can. Couples confirm venue numbers and accommodation from early replies, so a prompt answer is a real kindness.
Book inside the room block. It supports the couple's venue arrangements and often places you close to the celebrations.
Treat your presence as the primary gift. Travel and stay already represent a considerable gesture, so a gift is entirely optional, and any physical item is best sent to the couple's home.
Respect the invitation. Bring a partner or children only if they are named on the envelope.
Pack for the climate and the terrain. Block heels or dressy flats suit sand and grass better than stilettos, and a garment bag or a hotel steaming service keeps formal wear crisp.
Most importantly, wait for the couple's official photos before posting heavily online, and respect any request for an unplugged ceremony.
The venue and the climate shape the dress code as much as the invitation does. The table gives a quick guide to attire and footwear for common settings.
Setting | Suggested attire | Footwear tip |
|---|---|---|
Beach | Light, flowing fabrics such as chiffon or linen in midi or maxi lengths | Dressy flats or wedges |
Tropical garden | Breathable fabrics in lively prints | Block heels |
Vineyard or countryside | Tailored cocktail attire with a light layer | Block heels or dressy flats |
City hotel or ballroom | Formal or black tie, as stated on the invitation | Heels or polished dress shoes |
Mountain or alpine | Layered formal attire with a wrap or jacket | Closed, stable shoes |
Resort ballroom | Refined crepe or silk in midi or maxi lengths | Heels with a stable base |
