Day 2 · Chiang Mai
A half day up the hill to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep and its golden chedi, then Wat Suan Dok and Wat Chedi Luang in the city.
Sukhothai
Day 3 · Sukhothai
Golden temples at Lamphun and Lampang, then the ruins of Sukhothai Historical Park in the late afternoon light.
Ayutthaya
Day 4 · Ayutthaya
Join the morning alms round with local monks, then travel south to Ayutthaya, a former capital of Siam, and the Buddha head held in the roots of a tree at Wat Mahathat.
Kanchanaburi
Day 5 · Kanchanaburi
Through quiet countryside to Kanchanaburi, its war cemetery and the Thailand Burma Railway Centre. The afternoon is free.
Bangkok
Day 6 · Bangkok
The great stupa at Nakhon Pathom, then the boats and stalls of Damnoen Saduak floating market, arriving in Bangkok in the afternoon.
Day 7 · Bangkok
The Grand Palace, Wat Pho and its reclining Buddha, and the Golden Buddha at Wat Traimit. The evening is yours.
Day 8 · Bangkok
Breakfast and time at leisure before your transfer to the airport.
