You settle into your hotel in India's commercial capital, home to the Bollywood film industry.
Day 2 · Mumbai
You try a few dance steps at a Bollywood studio, walk a spice market and see the Gateway of India. A short local train ride shows you how millions commute.
Udaipur
Day 3 · Udaipur
You fly to Udaipur and check in to your palace hotel on an island in the lake, then cruise past the marble palace of Jag Mandir.
Day 4 · Udaipur
You explore the marble City Palace and the Sahelion Ki Bari garden, then join a family for a cooking demonstration and lunch.
Pushkar
Days 5 to 6 · Pushkar
You drive past camels and cattle into Pushkar for two days at its November fair. You watch decorated camels being traded, browse the stalls and see pilgrims bathing at the ghats of the sacred lake.
Jaipur
Day 7 · Jaipur
You drive to Jaipur and stay in a former maharaja's residence, then explore the courtyards and textiles of the City Palace.
Day 8 · Jaipur
You see the Palace of the Winds and the Amber Fort. In the afternoon you choose a private yoga session or a visit to a training centre for local women.
Agra
Day 9 · Agra
You drive across rural Rajasthan to Agra and see the Taj Mahal in the soft orange light of late afternoon.
Day 10 · Agra
You return at sunrise, when the marble turns pink, then visit Agra Fort.
Panna National Park
Day 11 · Panna National Park
A train takes you to Jhansi and on towards Panna, a park of forest, rivers and waterfalls where tigers, leopards and sloth bears live.
Day 12 · Panna National Park
You go out on early and late game drives by 4x4, with a chef's cooking demonstration at the lodge in between.
Khajuraho and Varanasi
Day 13 · Khajuraho and Varanasi
You see the carved temples of Khajuraho, then fly to Varanasi for the evening aarti ceremony beside the Ganges.
Varanasi and Delhi
Day 14 · Varanasi and Delhi
A private boat at dawn takes you past the bathing ghats. You fly to Delhi for a farewell dinner.
Delhi
Day 15 · Delhi
You visit Jama Masjid, ride a rickshaw through the lanes of Old Delhi and see the monuments of the new city.
Day 16 · Delhi
A private transfer takes you to the airport, or on to an extension in Kathmandu.

Begin in Delhi, then fly east to Varanasi for the evening ceremony on the Ganges and a dawn boat ride. From there you follow the temples of Khajuraho and Orchha to Agra and the Taj Mahal, then the forts and palaces of Jaipur before driving back to Delhi.

This version of the Golden Triangle gives Delhi a full day, from the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk to Humayun's Tomb and the Qutub Minar. You then spend two nights in Jaipur and one in Agra, visiting the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort on the final morning before the drive back to Delhi airport.
