The winery of the Union of Santorini Cooperatives, set high on the caldera above Pyrgos, where vows happen on open terraces facing the volcano.

Your wedding

Santo Wines is first a working winery, and the wedding setting reflects that. Ceremonies take place on terraces cut into the hillside above the caldera, with the volcano in front and Fira and Oia strung along the cliffs. Timing is everything here: most couples marry in the hour before sunset, when the light turns the water gold and guests can take a glass of local Assyrtiko straight after the vows.

Your stay

Santo Wines has no accommodation, so guests stay in Pyrgos village, Fira, which is about 4 km north, or anywhere on the island and come together for the wedding. Its central position makes it straightforward to reach from the main resort areas.

For the celebration, the winery's reception venue holds up to 110 guests, with a generous indoor area and the same sweep of caldera outside. It can be dressed softly with fabric, flowers and fairy lights or kept spare and modern. Many couples instead hold the vows here and move a few minutes into Pyrgos village for dinner. Symbolic ceremonies are the norm, with legal ceremonies arranged separately.

The winery itself fills the days around the wedding. Guests can join a winery tour, sit down to a tasting of Santorini PDO wines and Vinsanto, try the olive oil tasting, eat at the restaurant on the caldera terrace and pick up wine and local produce at the deli shop.
