Etsy’s 2022 Wedding Trends Are Here

Enjoy, our Wedded Wonderland Fairies!

Bridal Bows

Who doesn’t love a little bow action on their Wedding day?

Etsy has seen a 51% increase in searches for bow gowns or dresses and an 114% increase in searches for Bridal or Bridesmaids bow accessories.

’60s Style

The 1960s isn’t just influencing the Fashion world, it’s creeping into the world of Weddings and we’re here for it! Pulling inspo from the ultimate ’60s Brides like Priscilla Presley, Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor, it only makes sense that searches on Etsy for short wedding dresses are up by 29%, and searches for short or shoulder-length veils are up by 41%.

Heirloom-worthy gifts

Over the years we’ve witnessed Wedding Guests seek out more thoughtful and personalised Wedding gifts. Considering Heirloom-worthy gifts is trending, with gifts that can be cherished and passed down to future generations. Etsy has seen an increase in the following searches:

  • 77% increase in searches for personalized wedding or couples cutting boards
  • 129% increase in searches for custom wedding or couples illustrations
  • 128% increase in searches for wedding bouquet preservation items
  • 45% increase in searches for wedding keepsake boxes*.

Destination (& destination-inspired) weddings

For our Aus-based Couple, the search is on for Local Destination Weddings. With so many Weddings impacted by the pandemic over the past two years, Couples are now looking for ways to bring an international and destinational flare to their Wedding.

‘From passport-inspired wedding invitations (with searches up 140%*) to beach-inspired favors (with searches up 92%*) and tropical decor, couples are embracing escapism and creating little slices of wanderlust at home.’

Regency aesthetics

Another trend that doesn’t surprise us thanks to Bridgeton ‘regencycore’ is now in. Bridgeton has inspired Brides to inject extravagant opulence and old-world glamour in their Weddings.

Etsy has seen a 121% increase in searches for bridal gloves, a 93% increase in searches for puff sleeve wedding dresses, and a 78% increase in searches for pearl veils.

Colourful celebrations

The best for last and our personal favourite, colourful celebrations! According to Sydney-based florist, Montana Florals, “More and more couples are looking for a unique look… you can see all the amazing flower installations, the unstructured design, with a lot of textures and interesting flowers to be introduced into Weddings. And because it’s personalised, you will see all the fun colour combinations together.”

Florals aren’t the only way to add some colour to your Wedding, Couples are searching for ruby Engagement rings, emerald Engagement rings, and Sapphire engagement rings- this tells us colour is in (and hopefully here to stay!).
