There are more wedding planning apps than ever, and each one is built around a different center of gravity. Some are registries with planning tools attached. Some are vendor directories with a checklist bolted on. Some are beautiful websites that stop once your guests have RSVP'd.
So the real question isn't "which wedding planning app has the most features?" It's "which wedding planning app keeps all of my wedding in one place, so I'm not copying the same guest list into five different tools?"
We compared nine of the best known wedding planning apps on what they publish about themselves: Wonderland Studio, Zola, The Knot, Joy, WeddingWire, Bridebook, Appy Couple, Minted and, for professional planners, Aisle Planner. Below you'll find a quick ranking, a feature table, an honest look at each one, and a full tour of Wonderland Studio's features so you can see exactly what you'd be getting.
Wonderland Studio is made by Wedded Wonderland, the publisher of this guide. We've compared it as fairly as we can, using each company's own published information, checked when this guide was last updated.
Wonderland Studio: best all-in-one wedding planning app, with eleven connected tools.
Zola: best for a registry and planning in one place.
The Knot: best for browsing a huge US vendor marketplace.
Joy: best free wedding website with a guest app.
WeddingWire: best for reading vendor reviews.
Bridebook: best free wedding planning app for UK couples.
Appy Couple: best for a branded wedding app for guests.
Minted: best for a website that matches your stationery.
Aisle Planner: best software for professional wedding planners.
This table covers the five wedding planning apps most couples shortlist. A tick means the company's own site or app listing describes the feature. "Not listed" means we didn't find it on their site, not that it definitely doesn't exist.

The pattern is clear. Zola, The Knot, Joy and WeddingWire are free and very strong on registries, apps and vendor search. Wonderland Studio is the only wedding planning app here that runs your seating, run sheet, menu, decor and budget from the same guest list, and it's the only one with templates built around specific wedding traditions.
Wonderland Studio is the all-in-one wedding planning app from Wedded Wonderland. It puts eleven tools in one account: Website, Guests, Seating, Budget, Timeline, Tasks, Vendors, Calendar, AI Planning Assistant, Menu, and Decor & Moodboard. What makes it different is that the tools talk to each other.

Here's how that played out in our sample wedding, with 56 invited guests:
RSVPs flow into the guest list: guests replied on the wedding website, and their status, meal choice and plus-ones landed in Guests automatically.
Seating only offers confirmed guests: 48 people confirmed, so the seating planner showed 48 to seat, not 56.
The caterer gets meal counts: the table-by-table seating export carried every meal choice and allergy, one page per table.
Deadlines land on the calendar: task due dates and timeline moments both appeared on the calendar without retyping.
Vendors are entered once: a florist added in Vendors could then be linked to a task and assigned to a moment on the run sheet.
In most other setups, a late decline means updating your website, spreadsheet, seating chart and caterer separately. In a connected wedding planning app like Studio, it's one change.
Studio also sits inside the Wedded Wonderland marketplace, so planning and finding suppliers happen in the same place. You get a personal "wedding edit" of venues and vendors by country, a 12-question destination quiz that returns a ranked shortlist, favorites, enquiries, messages, and a Bookings & Payments page with receipts and a running total paid.
Like any wedding planning app, Studio has honest trade-offs. It has no gift registry or cash fund, so you'd pair it with a registry elsewhere. Its planning tools also come to your phone through Wedded Wonderland's companion app, Wedded Pro, on iOS and Android. There's one login per wedding, so partners share it rather than having separate accounts. And it's a paid subscription after a 7-day free trial with full access. If a trial or subscription lapses, nothing is deleted: the dashboard simply locks until you subscribe.
This is the full list of what this wedding planning app gives you in one Studio account, as checked in the live tools.

Four of these are where Studio pulls clearly ahead of every other wedding planning app.
Most wedding website builders give you a choice of fonts and flowers. Studio's templates are built around how different cultures actually celebrate. Marigold & Gold arrives pre-filled for a multi-day South Asian wedding with mehndi, sangeet, baraat and pheras. Emerald & Oud covers a henna night, nikah and zaffe. Double Happiness includes the tea ceremony and banquet. Heritage & Bloom has a traditional ceremony, a white wedding and jumping the broom. Each one also comes with accommodation and FAQ sections for that tradition, and everything is editable.

For a multi-day celebration, this pairs with per-event RSVPs on the website and multiple days on the run sheet, so the mehndi and the reception can each have their own guest responses and their own schedule.
Further than most wedding planning apps, and most standalone seating apps too. You can start from a template in seconds or draw your venue's exact shape. Four helpers do the slow work, and four exports each go to a different person: your venue gets the full layout, your caterer gets meal counts by table, your planner gets a spreadsheet, and your stationer gets place cards. On the day, guests scan a QR code to find their table with no app or login. Our wedding seating chart guide walks through it step by step.

Yes. Budgets run in USD, EUR, GBP, AUD or CAD, and there's a Luxury Destination Wedding template alongside the local one. The decor list adds AED. Each category has a budgeted amount and a due date, and the allocation bar warns you before you over-allocate. One honest limit: logged expenses don't update a category's "amount spent" automatically, so you'll update those yourself.

These are the tools most wedding planning apps skip. The timeline is a proper run sheet: twelve moments in the Classic template, durations shown as "1H 30M", a vendor on each moment, and a read-only link to share with your photographer and coordinator. The menu planner tracks every dish by course with dietary tags and allergens, so you can see at a glance whether your vegan and halal guests are covered. And the decor list costs every item by zone, from the ceremony arch to the welcome bags, with running totals. Read more in our guides to the wedding day timeline and the wedding menu.

Yes, especially if a registry is high on your list. Zola combines a registry (gifts, experiences and what it calls zero-fee cash funds) with a free wedding website, a guest list that tracks RSVPs, meal choices and plus-ones, a free budget tool, a checklist, invitations and a vendor marketplace where you can book through Zola. Its budget updates automatically when you book vendors on Zola, and you can chat or email its Team-Z advisors.
Its seating chart pulls in confirmed guests from your Zola guest list and downloads as a PDF or Excel sheet. It's free for up to 15 guests; beyond that, Zola's App Store listing shows a $14.99 in-app purchase for the seating chart. Zola's own app page says the free Zola app is only available on iOS, so Android users plan on the website.
Choose Zola if: you want a registry and a solid free wedding planning app under one login. Choose Studio instead if: you want a full run sheet, a menu planner, costed decor and culturally specific website templates connected to the same guest list.
The Knot is the best known name in US weddings, and its free wedding planning app earns that reputation. The Knot app combines a registry (gifts, cash funds, honeymoon funds and experiences, with Venmo for cash funds), a guest list with RSVPs and meal preferences, a free wedding website, save the dates and invitations, a style quiz with inspiration boards, and a very large marketplace where you can discover and message local vendors. Its Peace of Mind Program covers up to $500 of price difference if an eligible vendor cancels close to your date. The app is rated 4.9 from more than 222,000 ratings on the App Store.
The Knot is owned by The Knot Worldwide, the same company behind WeddingWire and the UK's Hitched. One thing to check: at the time of writing, The Knot's own help center described turning your guest list into a seating chart as something it was "working on", so check the wedding planning app for its current status if seating matters to you.
Choose The Knot if: vendor discovery in the US is your biggest job. Choose Studio instead if: you want seating, a run sheet, a menu and decor all built from your RSVPs.
For a free website with a guest app, Joy is hard to beat. Joy says it is free to use, and its pricing page lists a planning dashboard, wedding website, all-in-one registry, mobile app, unlimited guests, online RSVP, hundreds of digital invites, multiple editor accounts and personal support at no cost. Paid extras are custom domains, text messaging and premium stationery designs.
Joy's wedding planning app, on iOS and Android, is especially good for guests: personalized schedules, travel details, a shared photo album, a live slideshow and a virtual guest book. Guests don't need the app to RSVP on the website. Joy also highlights its Smart RSVP, which lets you ask any question and track every answer.
Choose Joy if: you want a free, polished guest experience and a registry. Choose Studio instead if: you need the planning side too: seating with exports, a budget in five currencies, a checklist, a run sheet and a menu.
Yes, mainly for research. WeddingWire says it lists more than 158,000 local professionals and over 3 million vendor reviews, which makes it one of the best places to read what other couples thought of a photographer or venue. Its free tools include a wedding website, guest list, budget planner, checklist, seating chart, vendor manager and registry, plus a wedding planning app and a separate guest app. It's part of The Knot Worldwide, so it overlaps with The Knot in many ways.
Choose WeddingWire if: reviews drive your vendor decisions. Choose Studio instead if: you want a wedding planning app with your tools connected end to end, from RSVP to place cards.
Bridebook is built for couples in the UK and says it serves couples in 185 countries. Bridebook offers a personalized checklist, a budget tracker, a guest list with RSVPs, a wedding website with RSVPs and a gift list, and search across thousands of venues and suppliers. Its wedding planning app is free on iOS, Android and the web, and Bridebook says more than 1.9 million couples use it.
Choose Bridebook if: you're marrying in the UK and want a free wedding planning app with local supplier search. Choose Studio instead if: you want seating exports, a run sheet and a menu planner, with budgets in GBP and four other currencies.
Appy Couple is for couples who want their own branded app as well as a website. It offers a responsive website and native app, a guest list and RSVP manager, digital invites, guest photo sharing and widgets that point guests to hotels, your registry and transport. It costs $99 a year or $12 a month, with custom domains and printed stationery extra.
Choose Appy Couple if: a designer guest app is the priority. Choose Studio instead if: you want a wedding planning app with the behind-the-scenes planning tools, not just the guest-facing ones.
Minted is a stationery company first, and its websites are designed to match its invitations and save the dates. It describes free websites with artist designs, digital RSVP tracking and registry links, so your paper and your site look like a set.
Choose Minted if: you're ordering Minted stationery and want everything to match. Choose Studio instead if: you want a website that feeds a full wedding planning app.
If you plan weddings for a living, you need client management, not just a couple's wedding planning app. Aisle Planner is built for that. Its Sales Essentials plan starts at $49.99 a month for lead management, proposals, contracts and invoicing, and its project plans start at $69.99 a month for up to 15 projects, adding a client portal, checklists, timelines, budgets, layouts and seating, guest management and event websites. All plans come with a 30-day free trial, with a card required.
Wedded Wonderland also makes a Planner Portal for professional planners. It gives you a roster of couples, each with their own separate workspace containing all eleven Studio tools, and a dashboard that sorts couples into Onboarding, Planning and Finalizing based on their real tasks and RSVPs. Plans cover 5 active couples (Starter), 20 (Pro) or unlimited (Agency), and archiving a wedding frees a slot without deleting anything. If your priority is a sales pipeline with proposals and invoicing, Aisle Planner is built for that. If it's running every couple's guests, seating, budget and run sheet in depth, the Planner Portal is built for that.
Weigh these four things before you pick a wedding planning app:
Your main job: if it's searching for vendors, start with The Knot or WeddingWire. If it's managing guests, seating and the day itself, start with Wonderland Studio.
Registry: Zola, The Knot, Joy and WeddingWire all have one. Studio doesn't, so pair it with the registry you like best.
Multi-day or multicultural weddings: Studio's culturally specific templates, per-event RSVPs and multi-day run sheet were built for exactly this.
Phone app: Zola (iOS), The Knot, Joy, Bridebook and Appy Couple have native apps, and Studio's tools come to your phone through Wedded Pro, Wedded Wonderland's companion wedding planning app, on iOS and Android.
If you combine tools, make your wedding planning app the one that holds your guest list, because every other job depends on it. Our guides on how to plan a wedding and the wedding planning checklist show what that looks like month by month, and the full set of tools is on our wedding planning tools page.
