The world’s most iconic wonder, the Great Pyramids of Giza, served as the breathtaking backdrop for a wedding that redefined the meaning of luxury, love, and adventure. When Vivek Nandha, the London-based investment banker, and Dr. Monica Nayyar, a private practice dentist in Central London, said their vows, they didn’t just marry each other, they married tradition, culture, and an unforgettable legacy.
From a simple sun-soaked picnic to a proposal in Jaipur’s Samode Palace, this couple’s love story has all the ingredients of a timeless romance. But nothing quite compares to the culmination of their dream wedding, held from September 3-6, 2025, in Egypt. Yes, you read that right, the Pyramids. The couple was only the third to ever marry at this ancient site, and the logistics alone were nothing short of cinematic.
Monica and Vivek’s wedding was no ordinary event. It was a three-day cultural odyssey, starting with a Haldi ceremony at Sofitel Cairo El Gezirah, where turmeric and love filled the air. Then, the Hindu wedding ceremony at Dahab Island Palace, an enchanting venue where guests crossed the River Nile by boat to witness the sacred rituals under a floral-draped mandap. Every detail, every gesture, was steeped in meaning.
But the showstopper? The reception at the Pyramids. A scene straight out of an epic film: a private gate, the Sphinx lit up under the starlit sky, and a group of loved ones celebrating beneath the ancient stones of the Pyramids. The entire Giza Plateau was privatised for this wedding. As the couple made their grand entrance, fireworks exploded, setting the night on fire, while “What a Wonderful World” played and guests released paper lanterns into the desert sky.
The celebration, illuminated by the glow of the Pyramids and filled with heartfelt speeches, choreographed dances, and the surreal wonder of it all, ended with a sense of magic. And to top it off? Dinner was served at the foot of the Sphinx. Just when you think this dream wedding couldn’t get any grander, it did.
The fashion at this wedding was another showstopper. Monica’s bridal lehenga, designed by Dolly J, was a stunning red raw silk masterpiece. Vivek, ever the stylish groom, wore a custom white sherwani designed from his own sketches, a fusion of Indian tradition and London sophistication. Day two saw Monica don a corset lehenga, while Vivek swapped into a black sherwani with a gold and black pashmina stole, a family heirloom. And let’s not forget the jewellery: custom-made by Vivek’s father, a fifth-generation jeweller. This was fashion at its finest.
But what truly took this wedding to the next level was how the couple weaved together their British, Indian, and Egyptian influences into their fashion choices, creating a completely unique and stunning aesthetic.
As if the Pyramids weren’t enough, the culinary experience elevated this wedding to new heights. The couple worked with world-class chefs from Egypt, India, and Britain to create a menu that reflected their diverse backgrounds. In true luxury style, the kitchen was built from scratch at the Pyramids on the final day, and all dishes were prepared right on-site. If that doesn’t scream “epic,” we don’t know what does.
The planning? Intense. The logistics? Herculean. The rewards? Priceless. From overcoming strict government restrictions to navigating cultural nuances and language barriers, the wedding was a masterclass in teamwork, patience, and vision. But the payoff? Pure magic. Monica and Vivek’s wedding was more than an event, it was an experience that pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of luxury weddings.
And while the couple is currently basking in the glow of their honeymoon in Bora Bora, we can’t help but wonder what’s next. According to Vivek, their five-year anniversary will be celebrated at the Great Wall of China. Talk about setting the bar for future milestones.
This wedding will be talked about for decades, not just because it was grand, but because it was personal. A perfect blend of cultures, traditions, and an unfailing commitment to making dreams come true. For Vivek and Monica, it wasn’t just about tying the knot, it was about leaving a legacy that will echo through time, with the Pyramids as its eternal witness.
This wedding wasn’t just an event, it was history in the making.
