We’ve already taken an inside look into the names that are sure to dominate 2018 but now we’ve been given a look into which names ruled 2017 and the results are … not all that shocking.
According to the NSW Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages, royal names still reign supreme, with William coming in second while Harry trailed behind at 21. Meanwhile, Charlotte topped the list of girl’s name, beating other popular royal names of the past, like Grace and Isabella.
Attorney General Mark Speakman also predicted that we may see a spike in other royal names, noting that “with a Royal wedding on the way, maybe Meghan’s mark’ll be made this year.”
Pop culture references once again made their appearance, with crowd-favourite Games of Thrones making the list with Aria at 23 (a change to the Arya of the show). Netflix phenomenon Stranger Things also brought names like Finn into the boy’s top 50, taking after star Finn Wolfhard. Meanwhile Millie edged its way into the top 100 after Millie Bobby Brown, while Lucas sits at a strong number 8.
