Most couples have a first-meeting story.
Filipino couple Anja and Gab Romualdez have photographic evidence that theirs happened before either of them could even remember it.
Born just two days apart at the same hospital, the pair were placed in bassinets right beside each other as newborns. They did not grow up as childhood sweethearts, and for years, the fact barely registered as anything more than a funny coincidence. Then life kept putting them in the same places.
Years later, they would become classmates, then friends, then a couple, and eventually husband and wife. When they looked back at their story before their wedding, they discovered just how many times their paths had crossed long before they understood what any of it meant.
And yes, there is an actual baby photo.
If your own wedding planning has you thinking about the details that make a celebration feel personal, those little pieces of history are exactly the kind of things worth bringing into the experience. Wedded Concierge connects couples with trusted wedding experts, venues and suppliers who can help turn a love story into a celebration that feels distinctly yours.

Anja and Gab were born two days apart in the same hospital, with their bassinets positioned next to one another.
For most of their relationship, however, Anja did not exactly count that as their first meeting.
For seven years, whenever people asked how they met, she would say they met in college. Gab had a different answer. He insisted that he had known her since the day they were born, which Anja assumed was simply his way of making their story sound more dramatic.
Then, about a month before their wedding, they went through their old baby photos.
There it was. The two bassinets. Their names written on them. And proof that Gab had been telling the truth all along.
For Anja, seeing the photograph transformed what had always been a running joke between them into something much more surreal.
Their paths had literally crossed from the beginning.
The hospital photo was only the first coincidence.
When they were around two years old, Anja and Gab ended up at the same playschool. Somehow, they were even cast together in a school production, with Anja playing Mother Mary and Gab playing Joseph.
Then life moved them in different directions.
They attended different schools and gradually lost touch, although their mutual friends meant they would occasionally cross paths. Eventually, they found themselves in the same place again during college.
Both had initially applied for different courses at Ateneo de Manila University, but both eventually switched to Management Engineering.
Naturally, they ended up taking some of the same classes.
Their eventual reconnection happened through a group project during the summer between their freshman and sophomore years. What started with conversations about math and science videos and Rubik's cubes gradually became something more.
The friendship kept growing. Then came the relationship.

After seven years together, Anja and Gab exchanged vows on July 11 at the Manila Cathedral, surrounded by family and friends.
Their reception followed at Foro de Intramuros, a grand venue capable of hosting up to 1,000 people. Instead of filling the space to its maximum capacity, the couple chose to celebrate with around 300 guests.
The result was an intimate celebration within an expansive setting.
Event designer Gideon Hermosa captured the approach perfectly, describing the idea as: “Sometimes, the greatest luxury is making a grand space feel intimate.”
It was a fitting choice for a couple whose story is ultimately about meaningful details rather than one enormous cinematic moment.
For the wedding, Gab wore a tailored suit by Fort & Tailler, while Anja chose a gown by Francis Libiran.
The dress leaned into classic bridal elegance, with a wide train, an oversized bow and graceful draping that gave the silhouette a polished, timeless quality.
Rather than chasing a particularly fleeting bridal trend, the look suited the occasion and the setting, allowing the architecture of the Manila Cathedral and the couple's own story to remain central.
And then there was one very important wedding guest.

Their Old English Sheepdog, Winnie, was also part of the celebration.
The idea of an “invisible string” has become a popular way of describing two people who seem to keep finding their way back to each other, even when life sends them in completely different directions.
Anja and Gab did not grow up believing that theory applied to them.
It was only after looking back at everything that had happened that it started to feel difficult to dismiss entirely.
Their story was never just one first meeting.
It was the hospital bassinets.
The playschool. The childhood performance. The mutual friends.
The different schools. The unexpected switch to the same university course.
The group project. And eventually, the relationship that lasted seven years before becoming a marriage.

There is something particularly charming about a wedding story that starts decades before the wedding itself.
Anja and Gab did not know as newborns that the person sleeping in the neighbouring bassinet would eventually become their spouse. They could not have known that they would cross paths again at playschool, lose touch, end up at the same university and eventually reconnect over a very nerdy group project.
That is what makes their baby photo feel so special now.
It is not proof that every coincidence is fate. It is simply a tiny snapshot of two lives that would keep intersecting until, eventually, they became one story.
And perhaps that is the detail that makes their wedding feel even more personal.
The celebration was not just about the day they got married. It was the latest chapter in a relationship that, in one way or another, had been unfolding since the day they were born.
