Kirsty and Sam met at a lounge bar and instantly felt a connection. The next day they had dinner together at the same venue, and have been inseparable ever since.
When it came time to plan their wedding, the lucky couple won a $35,000 wedding package via the ABIA BAG Competition, from which they were able to create their dream wedding.
On their special day, bride Kirsty told Wedded Wonderland that they were surrounded with “more love than we could ever have hoped for and we said ‘I Do’ with so much joy in our souls.”
The theme of the ceremony was classic and elegant. The pavilion they married in was styled with white and ivory roses as well as rows of white draping, converging to frame a crystal chandelier. Keeping the colour palette neutral in the pavilion gave it an ethereal, heavenly glow and beautifully complemented the blush and mushroom featured in the floral bouquets and bridesmaids dresses.
For the reception, candles and crystal vases filled with blooms adorned blush sequin tablecloths. In the centre of the room a tower of champagne glasses engraved with the words ‘To Love and Happiness’ aligned underneath an exquisitely decorated chandelier style wedding cake which hung from the ceiling.
Kirsty told Wedded Wonderland their special day delivered “the most diverse atmosphere we could ever have imagined; rain, mist, cloud and fog … and the way we embraced this will forever make me smile.”
One of the most memorable moments of Kirsty’s day was seeing her bridesmaids reactions when they first saw her in her dress. “They were just genuinely so excited for me. I was so grateful to have them by my side and couldn’t wait to see my sweetheart at the end of the aisle.”
One of the most heart-warming moments was Sam’s speech to Kirsty, particularly the words “Your strength makes me stronger and I promise to use that strength to care for you and protect you forever.”
Kirsty’s one piece of advice to future brides is, “You only get this day once, there will always be elements of it that you cannot control; welcome that, enjoy it and the very personal and unique journey it takes you on. Every moment in that day is precious, don’t spend a second of it worrying.”
The couple told Wedded Wonderland “Our blissfully perfect day was possible only because of all the dream makers sponsoring the ABIA competition and ABIA themselves. Sam and I thank you for being such a beautiful piece of our story. We cannot express how truly grateful we are.”
