Former chef to Princess Diana and her two sons Darren McGrady told Hello! that a Christmas proposal would not only be romantic, but would also avoid stepping on anyone’s toes. “I really do think they would have been engaged by now. Princess Diana’s 20th anniversary this month in August, they can’t trump that,” he told reporters.
“And then November is the Queen and Prince Phillip’s platinum wedding anniversary, so they can’t trump that either, whereas December they can announce the engagement and they’d be free to marry nest year – I think that’s what’s going to happen.”
Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell revealed earlier this month at Palazzo Versace’s High Royal Tea that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were likely to marry next year, so this prediction isn’t just a one-off.
The loved up pair are currently in Botswana celebrating the Suits actress’ 36th birthday, with Harry planning the surprise getaway, which was also billed as the perfect opportunity to ask Meghan for her hand in marriage.
And as for the ring? A source reportedly told Us that Harry “has diamonds taken from a brooch he inherited from Diana” after she passed away, with older brother William famously using his mother’s sapphire engagement ring to propose to Kate Middleton.
