Gammarth
Day 1 · Gammarth
Staff meet you at Tunis airport and help you collect the car, maps and travel documents. It is a short drive to your hotel at Gammarth on the coast north of the city.
Day 2 · Gammarth
A day to explore the capital: the ruins of Carthage, the blue and white village of Sidi Bou Said and the old medina. Leave time for the Bardo Museum and its large collection of mosaics.
Hammamet
Day 3 · Hammamet
Head south and stop at Oudna, a Roman site outside Tunis, then follow the old water route to Zaghouan and the Water Temple that once supplied Carthage. You reach Hammamet with time to see its old and new medinas.
Kairouan
Day 4 · Kairouan
Drive inland to Kairouan, the spiritual capital of Tunisia. See one of the largest mosques in North Africa, the medina, the Aghlabid basins and a local mausoleum, where you may chance upon a family celebration.
Sousse
Day 5 · Sousse
Return towards the coast by way of El Djem, whose Roman amphitheatre is second in size only to the one in Rome, with a museum near the old Roman town. You can stop at Monastir before ending the day in Sousse, with its medina, harbour and the marina at Port El Kantaoui near your hotel.
Gammarth
Day 6 · Gammarth
Spend the day as you like in Sousse, or take your time on the way north. The coastal village of Hergla is a good stop for the view before the highway back to Gammarth.
Tunis
Day 7 · Tunis
Drive back to Tunis airport, where staff meet you to return the car and help you check in for your flight.

Tunis → Hammamet → Matmata → Djerba → Tunis
After a first night at Hammamet, a 4x4 carries a small group south past the amphitheatre of El Djem to Matmata, the ksour of Tataouine and Chenini, and two nights on Djerba. The drive north takes in the Great Mosque of Kairouan, and the trip ends with a morning in the medina of Tunis.

Tunis → Hammamet → Tozeur → Douz → Djerba → Sousse → Tunis
From a first night in Hammamet, the group heads inland to Kairouan and on to the palm town of Tozeur. You cross the Chott el Djerid salt lake to Douz at the edge of the Sahara, visit the cave homes of Matmata, and spend two nights on Djerba before returning north by way of El Djem, Sousse, Sidi Bou Said and Carthage.

Two nights near Tunis give you Sidi Bou Said, Carthage, the Bardo mosaics and the medina. From there a small group travels to the Roman cities of Dougga, Bulla Regia, Thuburbo Majus and Sbeitla, with two nights in Kairouan, then back by way of El Djem and the Cap Bon peninsula for a last night in Tunis.
