Khao Sok
Day 1 · Khao Sok
You are met at Phuket or Krabi airport and driven into Khao Sok, between the Andaman coast and the Gulf, with lunch on the way. In the afternoon you head into the park, a rainforest of limestone outcrops, deep valleys and caves that shelters elephants, gibbons and leopards.
Day 2 · Khao Sok
An early start for Cheow Lan Lake, a vast reservoir ringed by limestone cliffs. Cross it by boat, walk a short way into the jungle and explore a cave, then return to the lodge after lunch for a rest.
Surat Thani and Khanom
Day 3 · Surat Thani and Khanom
Leave Khao Sok for the old temple of Phra Boromathat in Chaiya, then take a longtail boat along the Tapi, the longest river in the south, past houses on the water. After lunch, see the stalactites of Tham Khao Wang Thong cave before reaching the coast at Khanom.
Nakhon Si Thammarat and Phatthalung
Day 4 · Nakhon Si Thammarat and Phatthalung
Visit Wat Phra Mahathat, among the oldest and most important temples in the country, and the home of shadow puppet master Suchart Subsin to learn about the shadow theatre of the south. After lunch, walk through Baan Kiri Wong, a village ringed by mountains, before arriving in Phatthalung.
Phatthalung and Trang
Day 5 · Phatthalung and Trang
Out early on Thale Noi, a large wetland and waterfowl reserve that in season is covered with water lilies and lotus. After breakfast and lunch on the road, explore Tham Le Khao Kob by boat among stalactites, lying flat in places to pass, then continue to Trang.
Trang islands and Krabi
Day 6 · Trang islands and Krabi
From Pak Meng Pier, a day on the water to Koh Kradan, Koh Mook and Koh Chuak, with the Emerald Cave if the sea allows, white sand and lunch on board. Back on land, drive on to Krabi.
Koh Klang and Krabi
Day 7 · Koh Klang and Krabi
A five-minute longtail ride takes you to Koh Klang, a car-free island where you travel by tuk-tuk to see rice fields, boat building and batik painting. After a Thai lunch, explore the mangroves by longtail before the transfer to your Krabi hotel or the airport at about 3pm.
