Fattoria La Loggia is a hamlet on a small hill near Montefiridolfi in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, in the Chianti Classico hills about 20 minutes from Florence. Its roots go back to a 13th-century fortified tower house that later grew into a villa with loggias, salons and gardens. Since 1979 the same owners have restored the buildings and filled the grounds with large sculptures by international artists, so the estate reads as part farm, part art park.
Rooms and suites are spread through the hamlet, each restored around the original farmhouse architecture and furnished with pieces from the owners' own collection and works from the art centre. Classic Rooms start at 30 square metres, and the 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom suites start at 80 and 100 square metres, which works well for groups travelling together.
Weddings use the stone village, the historic park and the gardens, with the panoramic pool well suited to aperitivo. The team helps with welcoming guests and choosing caterers, and receptions can be set indoors or outdoors depending on the season. It suits couples who want a relaxed residential wedding with guests staying on site, rather than a formal hotel ballroom.
Between events, guests taste the estate's Chianti Classico and Riserva, picnic in the olive grove, ride at the on-site equestrian centre, practise yoga in the gardens or drive to Greve, Castellina, San Gimignano and Volterra.
