Castello di Casiglio stands in the Parravicino area of Erba, in the hills of the Como province. It began as a square military outpost in the 10th century, gained its tower around 1100, and was restored in 1985, when medieval floors and 15th-century frescoes were brought back. Ceremonies can be held in the gardens or indoors, and the century-old park gives the day its backdrop.
There are 46 rooms across 2 buildings: historic rooms in the castle, 4 suites, and quieter rooms in Villa Elena, a separate 19th-century house on the grounds that gives the couple or family more privacy. A wedding party can stay together for the weekend.
The main reception room is Sala Colonne, 344 sq m with natural light and a terrace over the park, holding up to 300. Smaller rooms suit rehearsal dinners or an intimate wedding: Sala Rombi with its 17th-century diamond decoration and stone fireplace, Sala Affreschi with its frescoes, the stone-walled Sala Camino, and the tower salon. Food comes from the castle kitchen behind Ristorante LèCru.
Between events, guests use the 600 sq m LUNEA spa, with 2 Turkish baths, 2 saunas, a salt room and a heated pool that runs from inside to outside, plus a gym and a summer pool. Lake Como's villas, including Villa d'Este, Villa Olmo, Villa Carlotta and Villa del Balbianello, are within reach for a day out.
Restoration in 1985 brought back medieval floors and 15th-century frescoes inside the castle.
