Slow down together before the baby comes

Babymoon packages

Take a babymoon as two in the weeks you can travel. We book the room, the short transfers and the prenatal massage for you.

Reserve for A$200

It comes off your final price, and is refunded in full if you don't go ahead.

Plan with a team that has done this before

  • 120,000+ celebrations planned: including babymoons, baby showers and the family trips that follow them.
  • 17+ years of experience: long enough to know which transfers are easy with a bump and which are not.
  • IATA TIDS registered: Wedded Wonderland is registered with IATA under TIDS code 96191491, and every booking is confirmed in writing.
  • Everything in writing: the room, the transfers, the spa and the change terms, before you commit.
  • One team, start to finish: the same people from your first question to the day you are home.
  • 70+ countries: so if your doctor would rather you stayed closer, we already know the alternatives.

Check the Zika advice before you pick a country

The CDC sorts every country by Zika risk for pregnant travellers, and it changes where many couples go. Read the CDC's Zika page with your doctor or midwife, then tell us what you are comfortable with.

  • Italy

Green on the CDC list, with no mosquitoes that spread Zika. Spa hotels by the sea, near Lake Como and on an island in Venice.

  • Australia

Yellow on the CDC list: the mosquitoes are present, with no reported cases. Hayman Island is one flight and a boat away, with no passport needed.

  • Fiji

Purple on the CDC list, for current or past transmission. One of the shortest overseas flights from Australia's east coast, so ask your doctor first.

  • Indonesia

Purple on the CDC list. Bali pool villas in Nusa Dua and Ubud, for couples whose doctor is happy with the trip.

  • Thailand

Purple on the CDC list. Pool villas on Koh Samui and Phuket, a longer flight best kept to the middle weeks.

  • Maldives

Purple on the CDC list. Overwater villas, one a speedboat ride from Malé and one a seaplane away.

Know what a babymoon package includes

Everything a pregnant traveller would otherwise have to ask for at check-in is arranged before you leave home.

  • A room that suits pregnancy: close to the restaurant and the pool, on the ground floor or near a lift, with shade outside.
  • Short transfers: flights booked inside your airline's weeks and the quickest road or boat from the airport to your door.
  • A prenatal massage: booked ahead with a therapist who treats pregnant guests, so there is no awkward conversation at the spa desk.
  • Meals that suit you: your pregnancy noted with the kitchen, and one dinner for two at the hour you prefer.
  • Terms you can live with: what can move, by when and at what cost, in writing, in case your doctor changes your plans.
  • Not included: travel insurance with pregnancy cover, international flights unless you ask us to add them, and anything the hotel charges separately.
Ask about your weeks

Plan around the weeks you can fly

Your due date sets the window, then the place. These are the points where the rules change.

  • Weeks 1 to 12: many people would rather not travel yet, because of nausea and tiredness, as the NHS explains. Use these weeks to talk to your doctor or midwife and choose your dates.
  • Weeks 13 to 27: the weeks most couples go. The NHS notes many women find mid-pregnancy, between four and six months, the easiest time to travel.
  • From week 28: airlines start asking for paperwork. Virgin Australia asks for a letter from your doctor or midwife dated within 10 days of the flight. Check your own airline too, such as Qantas.
  • Before 37 weeks, or 32 with twins: the RCOG gives these as the safest times to fly, says most airlines do not carry passengers after 37 weeks, and warns that travel insurance is harder to find after then.
  • Whenever you go: read the CDC's Zika advice for the country you are considering. The CDC recommends pregnant travellers decide with a health care provider.
Ask an advisor about your weeks

Choose the kind of rest you want

Some couples want to do nothing at all. Others want one last city, or pictures of the bump somewhere beautiful.

  • Just the two of you

A quiet island, an early dinner and nobody needing anything from you for a few days.

  • Days built around the spa

A prenatal massage booked for each day, and a private pool for the hours in between.

  • A slow city break

Florence or Venice at your own pace, with a car or a boat whenever you would rather not walk.

  • Pictures of the bump

A photographer for an hour at golden light, for photos of the two of you before you are three.

  • The honeymoon you skipped

For couples who never had a honeymoon, the babymoon often becomes it.

  • Bring your first child

A villa with room for a cot, and transfers short enough for a toddler and a bump.

Ask an advisor

Give a babymoon to parents-to-be

Expecting couples rarely book this for themselves. Parents, grandparents-to-be and close friends often give it instead, and we plan it quietly around the due date.

  • From the grandparents-to-be

A few nights somewhere calm, planned with the couple's doctor-approved weeks in mind.

  • From friends, together

Friends give one trip together, and we plan it with whoever leads.

  • One part of it

The prenatal massage, a private dinner or a better room, added to a trip they are already planning.

Keep celebrating as your family grows

The celebrations that come after the baby, planned by the same team.

  • Family gatherings

Bring the grandparents to meet the new baby, somewhere with room for everyone.

  • Anniversaries

A night or two away as a couple, once the baby is happy with a grandparent.

  • Vow renewals

Say it again years from now, with your children holding the rings.

See every celebration

See how planning with us works

1. We reply on your terms: your advisor replies by email or phone, the way you asked, with three questions: your due month, where you live and how far you are happy to fly. 2. Talk it through: the weeks your doctor or midwife is happy with, and what rest looks like for you both. 3. Read the options in writing: two or three stays that fit your weeks, each with the transfer, the room, the Zika advice and what can change later. 4. We lock in the weeks: the room, the flights inside your airline's rules, the massage and the dinner, all confirmed in one place. 5. You rest: the hotel already knows about the pregnancy, and if your plans change, your advisor moves them for you.

Get answers to what expecting couples ask

What is a babymoon?+
A babymoon is a short trip for the two of you before the baby arrives, usually in the middle weeks of pregnancy. It is about rest rather than sightseeing, with a quiet room, an easy transfer, a prenatal massage and dinner at an hour that suits you. Many couples take one before their first baby, and some bring their first child along before the second.
When should we go on a babymoon?+
Usually in the middle weeks, between about 13 and 27. The [NHS](https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/keeping-well/travelling/) says many women find mid-pregnancy the easiest time to travel, and airlines start asking for a doctor's letter from week 28. Agree your weeks with your doctor or midwife first, then choose the place.
Can I fly at 30 weeks pregnant?+
Usually, with paperwork. [Virgin Australia](https://www.virginaustralia.com/au/en/travel-info/specific-travel/specific-needs-assistance/flying-while-pregnant/) asks for a letter from your doctor or midwife from 28 weeks, dated within 10 days of the flight, and other airlines have similar rules. A short flight to Fiji or Hayman Island suits these weeks better than a long one. We book inside your airline's rules once your doctor is happy.
Where can we go on a babymoon without Zika?+
The [CDC](https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/page/zika-travel-information) lists Italy, Malta, Mauritius, Greece, Japan and New Zealand among the places with no mosquitoes that spread Zika. Australia has the mosquitoes but no reported cases. Fiji, Bali, Thailand and the Maldives are listed for current or past transmission, so talk to your doctor before choosing them.
Do we need pregnancy travel insurance for a babymoon?+
Yes. The [NHS](https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/keeping-well/travelling/) advises a policy that covers pregnancy-related care, a premature birth and changing your return date if labour starts early. Many standard policies limit pregnancy cover, and the [RCOG](https://www.rcog.org.uk/for-the-public/browse-our-patient-information/air-travel-and-pregnancy/) notes it gets harder to find after 37 weeks, so buy it as soon as the trip is booked.
Can I have a massage on a babymoon?+
Usually yes, once your doctor or midwife is happy, and we book it ahead with a therapist who treats pregnant guests. Tell us how many weeks you will be, because some spas set their own week limits for prenatal treatments. Ask your midwife about hot tubs and saunas before you go, and we can choose a villa where a shaded private pool matters more than the spa.
What if my doctor says we should not travel?+
We move or cancel on the hotel's terms, which are in your quote before you commit. That is why we set out what can change, by when and at what cost for every stay. Many couples swap a long flight for a drive or one short hop instead.
Can we bring our first child?+
Yes. We look for a villa or connecting rooms with space for a cot, a pool that is easy to watch and transfers short enough for a toddler. Tell us your child's age and we only shortlist places that welcome them.
