You can marry legally in Las Vegas with no waiting period. Both of you collect a US$102 marriage licence together, in person, from the Clark County Marriage License Bureau, open from 8am to midnight every day. You then marry in front of a Nevada-authorised officiant and at least one witness, and order the certified copies you'll need at home.

The licence takes about 15 minutes. Everything around it sets the calendar: a visa can fix the date, a resort terrace needs 30 days' notice, and certified copies can reach you after you fly home. Wedded Concierge plans and books the celebration around that order. Decide your surname before you fly, since it sets which offices need a certified copy.
Carry these in your hand luggage, with the rings:
Passports: Originals; a scan or phone photo isn't accepted.
US entry approval: An ESTA or a visa for each of you, and for every guest.
Your pre-application number: The online form stays on file for a year, so finish it weeks ahead.
Previous marriages: How many times each of you has been married, annulments included, and when each ended. The Bureau needs the decree or final order only if your licence name differs from your ID, but carry a copy anyway.
A card: The Bureau takes no cheques and adds 2% plus US$1.25 to card payments.

Work through these in order, because each step sets the dates for the next:

If your passport is in the Visa Waiver Program, apply for an ESTA (US$40.62) as soon as you start planning. If it isn't, you need a visitor visa and an interview at a US embassy or consulate in your country of residence or nationality. The State Department lists the 39 countries whose nationals face suspended or limited visa issuance under Presidential Proclamation 10998.
Set the date by the slowest visa in the party, guests included, and book nothing non-refundable until every one is issued. A surname change means a new ESTA for your next US trip. Our guide to planning a US destination wedding from overseas covers the wider trip.
Choose the setting first, because it sets your notice: at least 30 days for Bellagio or the desert. The hour follows sunset, and the day comes last, as Wynn charges more at weekends.
Whoever marries you must be authorised in Nevada, so an online ordination on its own doesn't qualify. Wynn and Bellagio include one, and Bellagio lets you bring your own for a fee. With no guests, ask the officiant to bring a witness, aged 18 or over.
A friend or relative can marry you with a single-ceremony authorisation from Clark County, applied for between three months and 30 days before, with an online course and a notarised character reference from you. Nevada law sets a US$25 fee and a limit of five a year.
Complete the online application with your names exactly as they appear on the passports you'll carry. The licence copies the name from your ID, and a correction later can cost up to US$79.50. You'll also need both parents' full legal birth names for each of you.
Go to 201 E Clark Avenue together. The Bureau takes walk-ins only, from 8am to midnight every day, and the Clerk's FAQ puts issuing at about 15 minutes, with Sundays and Tuesdays usually the quietest. The fee is US$102.
The licence is valid for a year, so collect it the day before and keep the wedding morning clear.
Your officiant hands you an uncertified copy of the certificate, which isn't proof of marriage, then has 10 calendar days to deliver the original to the Clerk.
The Clerk files the certificate within two business days of receiving it, then sells certified copies at US$20 each online, by mail or at a kiosk. Mailed orders take at least three weeks, or up to six internationally, with no express option listed.
Order every copy online in one go: one for each office that will ask, and one more for any apostille.
The Nevada Secretary of State adds an apostille, or a certification for countries outside the Hague Convention, to a certified copy from the Clerk. Each costs US$20, and express service runs from US$75 for 24 hours to US$1,000 for one hour. Name the destination country on the form. Its pages quote two to six weeks for standard processing, so plan on six.
Prices are in US dollars, from each venue's published rates, and change. For two to six of you, choose a suite; for twelve to sixty, price the Bellagio terrace against the Wynn salons; for more, the desert.
Wynn's Duet ceremony takes place in a Wynn or Encore Tower Suite King, for up to six guests. It costs US$4,500 Monday to Thursday or US$5,100 Friday to Sunday, and includes a violinist, seasonal flowers, transport to collect your licence, two nights in the suite and half an hour of photography.

At Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas, select Penthouse Suites host in-suite ceremonies with views over the Strip, priced on request.
Bellagio's Luce Mia ceremony uses the Terrazza di Sogno, a private terrace with the Fountains behind you, for up to 40 guests with seating for 24. You have it for up to an hour, with two photographers for three and a half hours. Bellagio publishes no price, so ask for a written quote. It needs 30 days' notice and allows outside photographers only in designated areas, for a US$500 fee.

Wynn's Classical ceremony uses one of its wedding salons and costs US$2,400 Monday to Thursday or US$3,100 Friday to Sunday. The Lilac Salon holds up to 60, so a party of 30 with older relatives can all sit down.
Red Rock Canyon needs a Special Recreation Permit for every wedding, applied for 30 to 180 days ahead. Its four sites hold 12 to 200 guests, a permit never gives you a site to yourselves, and arches, chairs, rice and balloons are banned.

The Visitor Center Amphitheater takes its last wedding at 3:30pm, so for golden hour choose the Overlook on State Route 159 or a Calico Basin site. Site hours run to 7pm in March and October but only to 5pm from November to February. Non-commercial groups pay the greater of US$115 or US$6 a person. Keep a terrace in town as the fallback for heat or wind.
The National Weather Service gives normal highs of 26°C in April and 27°C in October, against 40°C in July. July and August also bring monsoon storms whose flash floods sweep down normally dry washes, so a summer ceremony belongs indoors.

Sunset falls at 6:23pm on 1 October 2026 and 5:45pm on 31 October, an hour earlier once daylight saving ends on 1 November, so check sunset for your date. Hold the ceremony an hour before sunset, photographs in the last light and dinner about two hours later.
Send these questions in writing and keep the answers with your contract:
What is the food and beverage minimum, and do tax and service count towards it?
How much is the deposit, when is it due, and what comes back if dates move or a visa is refused?
If heat or wind moves the ceremony indoors, where does it go and what does that cost?
Do you need a one-day event liability policy from us, naming you as additional insured?
If a live broadcast is included, as at Bellagio, can it be switched off?

Wynn's wedding brochure publishes no deposit or cancellation terms, and Bellagio's FAQ refers you to your contract or a wedding coordinator. Neither says you must carry liability cover, though Bellagio asks outside photographers for proof of insurance.
Travel insurance covers flights, luggage and medical bills. A venue cancelling or a supplier failing to show takes wedding cover, so you need both. Buy wedding cover with the first deposit, and ask how close to the date it stays on sale, because some policies exclude supplier failure in the first weeks or payments made long before the policy began.

Check the wording for these, get each answer in writing, and expect a change of heart to be excluded:
What is the maximum, and does it reach your whole spend once US dollar deposits are converted?
Whose illness counts: the two of you, close relatives or guests? Is a declared medical condition accepted?
Are a refused visa, a supplier no-show and a supplier going under all listed, and must supplier contracts be signed in your name, not a planner's?
Which weather counts, and is a storm already forecast when you buy excluded? A clause naming hurricanes or tropical storms won't reach Las Vegas heat or a monsoon flash flood.
If you add cancel-for-any-reason travel cover, how soon after the first trip payment must you buy it, and does it name venue deposits?
What is the single-item limit for rings, jewellery and attire in transit?
Keep every contract, receipt, refund request and damage photo, because a claim pays only what you can't recover and you'll need to show you tried. Ask each guest to buy travel and medical cover once their ESTA or visa is issued.
Flights from Australia cross the date line, so check your arrival date and land two days before the licence. At the Reserve Bank's rate of US$0.6975 on 19 October 2026, the licence is about A$146 and the Wynn Duet about A$6,450.

Australia generally recognises a marriage valid in Nevada that would be valid here, says the Attorney-General's Department, but you can't register it. For a new surname, register a change of name with your state registry first: A$203 in NSW, after up to 10 business days of checks. If you were born here, the Passport Office then needs that certificate.
Wedsure offers an Overseas option in its quote tool but publishes no overseas terms, so ask for them in writing. Go Insurance adds Destination Wedding cover to a travel policy bought before you leave. Neither page mentions public liability.
Emiratis need a visa, as does anyone in the UAE whose passport isn't in the Visa Waiver Program. The US Embassy's visa page and its 8 August 2026 notice disagree on whether you can interview in the UAE, so visa applicants should allow for an interview in their country of nationality. UAE residents on Visa Waiver passports, such as British or Australian, apply for an ESTA as usual. At the Central Bank's peg of AED 3.6725, the licence is about AED 375 and the Wynn Duet about AED 16,500.

The UAE isn't party to the Apostille Convention, so a certified copy goes to the US State Department's Authentications Office, the UAE Embassy in Washington through VFS Global, then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (AED 150), which may ask for an Arabic translation. Dubai's GDRFA needs the attested copy to sponsor a spouse. If the groom is Muslim and the bride Christian, Sharia provisions apply, so see a UAE personal status lawyer before you book.
Ask ADNIC (800 8040) in writing whether Mabrouk wedding insurance covers a Nevada ceremony and what it pays for rings and attire. Gulf News reports that most travel policies exclude war and airspace closures.
The UK recognises a marriage that was lawful in Nevada and would be allowed under UK law, but it can't be registered here. For a passport in your new name, send the certified copy with the application. At the Bank of England's rate of US$1.3353 to the pound on 16 October 2026, the licence is about £76. In England and Wales, marriage cancels an earlier will unless the will shows you expected to marry that person, so see your solicitor when you're home.

Dreamsaver covers a UK resident's wedding anywhere, with £10,000 to £100,000 of cancellation, but excludes your liability in the USA and any country the FCDO advises against; its USA page carried no such advice on 19 October 2026. Lovebird applies cancellation and supplier failure abroad, counts serious illness of the two of you or close relatives but not guests, and requires travel cover. The GHIC isn't valid in the US and treatment there is expensive, so older relatives should declare every condition.
A Nevada certificate needs no apostille in another state, and New York recognises marriages validly made elsewhere in the US, per a 2004 Attorney General opinion. Social Security accepts only an original or certified copy for a name change, and the New York DMV wants the same at an office for an Enhanced or REAL ID. For a passport, Form DS-5504 is free if yours is under a year old and needs a certified copy showing the seal and the officiant's signature; otherwise apply on DS-82 or DS-11.

Markel's US$50 add-on gives only US$5,000 of cancellation and can't be bought in the last two weeks. Its standalone event cancellation, from US$130, covers vendor bankruptcy, no-show deposits and damage to attire and jewellery, with no published maximum. Its liability policy, from US$75, names the venue as additional insured at no extra cost.
WedSafe pays up to US$175,000 for cancellation, but failed-supplier deposits, attire and jewellery stop at US$10,000 each. Jewellery counts only if damaged or stolen in the week before, so for a lost band WedSafe suggests a floater on your home policy. Cover varies by state, so confirm Nevada. Neither insurer publishes a limit above US$175,000, so for a larger spend, ask a specialist broker for a written quote before the first deposit.
Wedded Concierge plans and books your Vegas wedding against the legal order above. We can also plan a honeymoon in the USA or wider North America afterwards. To compare other places first, read our destination wedding guide or how to plan a destination wedding.
