Destination Wedding: A Timeless Parisian Affair

From the classic location to the perfectly sophisticated dress this wedding is the epitome of a timeless Parisian Affair.

Almost 12 years ago, Sebastian, a fashion photographer approached Monika online wanting to photograph her for a shoot. A few years later, whilst on a romantic date in Paris, Sebastian proposed. “We had dinner in a great restaurant Le Caveau du Palais located in one of the most charming Parisian squares. We were talking about our plans, eating some excellent food and drinking rosé champagne. After that we took a walk and he proposed”, describes Monika.

And so they returned to the most romantic city in the world to host their wedding with their family and friends. “We chose Paris because the city is our favourite one”, explains Monika “We lived there for almost 2 years, we got engaged there, so we couldn’t imagine a different place on Earth to say I do”.

To keep with their Polish tradition, their ceremony was held in the spectacular Notre Dame de l’Assomption Polish church. Instead of opting to meet all the guests after the ceremony at the reception, they decided to take them along through the Parisian streets. “People were wishing us a happy married life, sending congratulations…cars, buses, even the Police were stopping and calling us.” After some quick family portraits they all jumped on tuk-tuks and rode around Champs Elysees – how truly unique!

Their reception was held in the most decadent Hotels in the heart of Paris. They decided to keep the theme chic and modest, true to Parisian style.

“The interiors were dramatically luxurious so I didn’t want to add any additional decorations”. The tables were styled with small bouquets of ivory roses and white hydrangeas. The pièce de résistance was the deliciously perfect Laduree’s iconic Marie Antoinette wedding cake and macaron tower.

Inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s Givenchy bridal look in Funny Face, Monika choose a modest ivory gown with a dropped waist, embellished with a little bow.

The best moment of the wedding? “The moment when we met out parents and my grandmother to bless our marriage – it’s a polish tradition…very emotional and touching.”

We love this Parisian wedding and hope you’re inspired Fairies!
