Pop-singer and former WAG Cheryl Cole has been dating One Direction member, 22-year old Liam Payne since the start of the year and while the 32-year old stunner is generally immaculately dressed on every red carpet and event that she attends, her choice in outfit for Liam’s sister’s Wedding has made headlines, for all the wrong reasons.
Cheryl chose to wear a grey Rick Owens maxi dress that features a high neckline, short sleeves and a straight silhouette. She paired this $1,000 dress with a pair of Saint Laurent pumps (because, what else dahling!?).
Her makeup was simple and chic and her brunette locks were slicked back into a low pony-tail.
If you were to ask us, it looks like Cheryl chose her outfit so that she’d draw as little attention to herself on the Big Day – and instead let the Bride, Ruth Gibbons take the spotlight.
She was wrong.
After images of Cheryl in her dress alongside her date, Liam, the internet has gone crazy, calling her get-up, ‘offensive’, ‘plain’, and ‘boring’.
But,m the hate didn’t stop there. Trolls also began commenting on Ruth’s Wedding gown and figure.
It got so bad, that the Bride felt the need to respond in this heartfelt message she posted on Instagram.
“Sorry but had to say something, im just a normal girl who married my childhood sweetheart in my dream wedding. Did something I shouldn’t and read comments on online articles about my wedding. What a sad world we live in where people tear strips off each other for no reason. I also had no say over what any guest wore to my wedding, I don’t know who does have a say but considering my brother’s girlfriend is one of the most beautiful women in the world she can wear anything and still look stunning as she did at my wedding.”
