“My husband designed my engagement ring. Like the Church of Saint Sava, the design of my engagement ring honours Byzantine traditions. The design of my dress was classic and my hair and make-up was minimalist. I didn’t even pluck my eyebrows. I looked like me – the woman my husband fell in love with – and I wasn’t concerned about laughing too hard or tearing up too often.”
