When you’re in a relationship, even a new one, you usually feel pretty mesmerised by your boyfriend. It happens.

However, we think there’s a big difference between a healthy and intimate relationship, and a relationship where you are 100 percent dependent on your boyfriend. We get it, when you really like someone, you feel the constant urge to talk to him and text him.

1. You text him, then call him

It’s all about the tech-savvy world, isn’t it?

If you are constantly on your phone, sending him messages and memes, then you have a BIG problem. When it comes to communication, how much is too much?

2. You panic when he doesn’t respond right away

Communication is always key, especially when it comes to connecting with someone you love.

But, if he doesn’t reply or even answer at all, then it’s probably time to move on. Everyone truly hates one-worded replies and this can mean he is just not interested.

3. You don’t trust him entirely

Jealousy and clinginess are more alike than you think. Girlfriends who are jealous will tend to cling to their partner as a means of keeping a closer eye on them.

If you really need to know what your partner is doing every second then a red flag will instantly appear. You might feel that being clingy will bring you closer together but it has the opposite effect. Be patient and wait for him to meet you halfway!

4. You follow him

Following a guy around is definitely clingy behaviour.

Fairies, you need to realise that there are plenty of ways to show a guy you’re interested without suffocating him in the process. Let us give you a scenario; your at a party, you look at him, make flirty eye contact and then look away. Wait and see if he’ll come towards you!

Girlfriends who constantly have no direction will allow their boyfriends to be the leader. Beware, as this can set you on a dangerous path of stalking.

5. You love what he loves

If you have suddenly gained a whole lot of new interests while meeting someone, then this cannot be good.

Without even knowing, you former views and opinions will turn into what your boyfriend likes and doesn’t like. You need to maintain your sense of self when in a relationship. Of course, its fantastic to have some things in common, just not everything.

6. You get annoyed when he has ‘guy nights’

When a girl becomes the second best thing in his life, then she will be annoyed!

If your partner just wants to hang out with his friends and not with you every now and then, it’s okay. Don’t you need some personal time too?

You need to remember this, it’s not him being mean or ‘blowing’ you off, it’s just him wanting a little bit of space.

7. You lose your identity

No one ever wants to admit it, but some people will lose themselves in this conjoined twin romance.

There are times you think, ‘when was the last time I saw this person?’. Of course, everyone wants to be loved, but clinging to each other in desperation is not love.

If you’re not good by yourself, you won’t be good for anyone else!
