We love getting Wedding invitations. From the moment we feel the thick, textured card in the letterbox to when we open it to see an envelope filled to the brim with embellishments, ribbons and diamantes, the process of receiving a beautifully thought-out invitation is magic.
However, a new survey from American Express has revealed that every time you receive another Wedding invitation, you should expect your bank account to drop by almost $1,000!
Is anyone else shocked?
The study involved 1,800 adults and found that on average, we attend three Weddings per year – and each time we go to a Wedding, we spend $959!
These costs included the price of an outfit for the Wedding, childcare/babysitting costs, Wedding gifts and travel to and from the reception.
If it’s a destination Wedding, you can add costs like accommodation, travel insurance and flights to this sum too!
The survey also found that the average amount spent on a Wedding gift is $173.
