These Are the Best-Dressed Grooms of the Year So Far

These Are the Best-Dressed Grooms of the Year So Far

From Callum Turner's tonal Ferragamo tailoring to Mondo Duplantis' raw silk tuxedo, these recent celebrity grooms prove that menswear deserves a place on the wedding mood board too.

For a long time, groom style came with a fairly predictable formula: find a good black tuxedo, make sure it fits properly, add a bow tie, done.

The latest crop of celebrity grooms has other ideas.

Recent weddings have given us midnight navy tailoring, raw silk dinner jackets, crisp white tuxedos, double-breasted silhouettes and, yes, a classic black suit when the occasion calls for it. What makes these looks interesting isn't that every groom tried to reinvent formalwear. Quite the opposite. The best ones understood exactly how much to change.

Callum Turner went tonal. Mondo Duplantis played with texture. MrBeast embraced the white dinner jacket. Matty Healy kept things deliberately uncomplicated. Together, they're making a convincing case for putting a little more thought into what the groom wears down the aisle.

Consider this the menswear section of your wedding mood board.

Callum Turner: Two Weddings, Two Very Good Suits

Callum Turner clearly wasn't interested in repeating himself.

For his first wedding ceremony with Dua Lipa at London's Old Marylebone Town Hall, the actor wore custom Ferragamo by Maximilian Davis, trading the expected black tuxedo for a head-to-toe midnight navy look.

The double-breasted suit featured strong shoulders, wide peak lapels, and covered buttons, but the smartest styling decision was underneath. Turner paired it with a matching navy shirt and tie, creating a completely tonal look that felt more fashion-forward than traditional groom attire.

Then came wedding number two, and with it, an entirely different Callum Turner.

For the couple's second celebration, Turner returned to Louis Vuitton in a bespoke black tuxedo that proved classic tailoring can still have a little romance. The single-breasted jacket featured peak satin lapels and satin-covered buttons, worn with a crisp white Sea Island cotton evening shirt and matching tuxedo trousers finished with a silk-satin stripe.

But the detail worth zooming in on was sitting at his breast pocket.

Instead of a conventional boutonnière, Turner's tuxedo was finished with an elaborate handcrafted peony created by Louis Vuitton. The flower featured a cotton-padded heart wrapped in velvet, approximately 60 individually crafted pistils, washed-silk petals, and silk leaves and stems that were carefully hand-painted in nuanced shades of red.

Each petal was positioned slightly differently during assembly to recreate the natural movement of a real flower, turning what could have been a simple boutonnière into a miniature piece of craftsmanship.

And that's perhaps the best takeaway from Turner's two wedding looks. Groom style doesn't require an outrageous suit to feel memorable. His first look played with color and tonal dressing. His second stayed firmly within the traditions of black tie, then made one beautifully considered detail the talking point.

Two weddings, two completely different approaches, and not a boring groom suit in sight.

MrBeast: The White Dinner Jacket

Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, went classic for his Necker Island wedding to Thea Booysen, but chose the version of classic that makes perfect sense on a private island.

He wore Ralph Lauren, pairing a white tuxedo jacket with black trousers for a crisp black-and-white look.

The white dinner jacket has always occupied a particularly glamorous corner of menswear, and destination weddings are arguably where it works best. Against the tropical backdrop of Necker Island, Donaldson's tuxedo felt formal enough for the occasion without looking too heavy for the setting.

A useful note for destination grooms: your venue should have a say in your suit.

Tommy Paul: Double-Breasted in Burberry

Tommy Paul swapped tennis whites for something considerably more formal when he married Paige Lorenze at Old Westbury Gardens in New York.

The tennis star wore a custom double-breasted Burberry suit in navy, bringing a distinctly polished sensibility to the historic Gold Coast setting.

Double-breasted tailoring has presence by design. The broader silhouette and overlapping front already make a statement, so there's little need to overcomplicate everything else.

Paired with the grandeur of Old Westbury Gardens, Paul's look felt appropriately traditional while still being noticeably more interesting than the default black tux.

Mondo Duplantis: Raw Silk Done Right

If texture isn't already on the groom's radar, Mondo Duplantis would like a word.

The Olympic pole vaulter wore a custom Saman Amel tuxedo featuring a white double-breasted jacket crafted from raw silk. Its irregular slub gave the fabric visible texture, while cloth-covered buttons kept the overall finish beautifully refined.

This is exactly how you make a familiar silhouette feel special without piling on unnecessary details.

From a distance, it's a beautifully cut white tuxedo. Up close, the texture does all the talking. For grooms who want something distinctive but aren't interested in experimenting with color or pattern, fabric is a very good place to start.

Matty Healy: Back to Black

At his Los Angeles wedding to Gabbriette, Matty Healy didn't attempt to compete with his bride's wonderfully unconventional Matières Fécales bridal wardrobe.

Smart man.

The 1975 frontman wore a custom Paul Smith black suit, keeping his side of the wedding fashion equation clean and classic.

Against Gabbriette's distressed Victorian-inspired ceremony gown, the restraint worked. His tailoring gave her dramatic look room to exist while still feeling completely appropriate to the slightly gothic, Hollywood Hills atmosphere of their celebration.

It's also proof that "classic" doesn't have to mean unimaginative. When the cut is right and the styling makes sense for the wedding, a black suit still earns its place.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: British Tailoring for the Win

Footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain turned to Thom Sweeney for his wedding tailoring, leaning into the kind of refined British menswear that makes formal dressing look almost suspiciously easy.

A beautifully tailored suit doesn't require novelty to make an impression. Proportion, construction and fit can do far more work than an unexpected color or statement accessory ever could.

For grooms who want to look like themselves rather than a completely different person who happens to be getting married, that's worth remembering.

Jack Whitehall: Always Have a Backup

Jack Whitehall's wedding wardrobe came with a lesson no groom expects to need: have a Plan B.

For his April 2026 wedding to Roxy Horner, the comedian initially wore a Tom Ford suit. Then came the sort of wardrobe malfunction wedding planners have nightmares about: it ripped.

Fortunately, Whitehall had another excellent option waiting in the wings. He changed into a classic navy Dunhill tuxedo, turning a potential fashion disaster into an accidental second look.

Brides have been planning outfit changes for years. Perhaps grooms should take notes.

What the Best-Dressed Grooms Are Getting Right

The biggest groom style trend right now isn't one particular suit. It's personality.

These men aren't abandoning classic tailoring. They're adjusting it. A tonal shirt and tie here, a textured silk jacket there, a wider double-breasted silhouette or an unexpected white dinner jacket.

That's what makes the current groom wardrobe feel exciting. The goal isn't to wear the loudest suit in the room. It's to find the version of formalwear that makes sense for you, your partner and the setting you've chosen.

Your wedding photographs are going to last considerably longer than whatever menswear trend is dominating your feed that month. Dress accordingly.
