It may be a little early in the year, but we’re calling it from now. This may just be the most perfect wedding song of the year – and it doesn’t hurt that the official duet features two of the biggest pop stars in the world right now.
Of course, a wedding day wouldn’t be complete without a heartfelt tune from Ed Sheeran.
The romantic ballad, featured on his album Divide, was written for his girlfriend and childhood friend, Cherry Seaborn and references their history together, including the line, “‘Cause we were just kids when we fell in love.”
Wanting to top the success of “Thinking Out Loud“, Sheeran told Zane Lowe, “I need to do it 100% me, so everyone will listen to that will be like, “Ah! He can actually do it!” … I wanted to beat “Thinking Out Loud”, ’cause I know that song was going to define me.”
On December 1st, an acoustic version entitled “Perfect Duet” was released, featuring Beyoncé on the second verse. It was Queen Bey herself who reached out to Sheeran about collaborating on the song, thus ensuring every bride-to-be would find it hard to resist the romantic tune.
Get your tissues ready and don’t say we didn’t warn you.
