Nancy and Damon’s rollercoaster ride of a journey spanning nine years is a testament to love knows no boundaries. When the couple first met in 2014, they were just young twenty-somethings full of dreams and aspirations. Fast forward to Valentine’s Day 2022, after a long day at work, Damon surprised Nancy with a proposal. Initially expecting a casual picnic due to Damon’s aversion to “forced days” of love, Nancy was taken aback by the heartfelt gesture. And so, their journey to planning the perfect destination wedding in Bali began.
When asked why they chose Bali for their special day, the lovebirds shared, “We are in our 30s and have been to so many Sydney weddings in the last decade and thought we would do something different. All our friends are busy with their new families, businesses and the stress of everyday life so we thought it would be a justifiable enough reason for everyone to stop, come together and go on a holiday.”
Their chosen venue, Seseh Beach Villas, proved to be a match made in wedding heaven. Nancy recalls, “As soon as I saw it, I fell in love. It was luscious and green, facing the ocean, with an open plan and a beautiful lawn at the front. Having two villas on the property meant we could split the girls and boys on the big day, making it even more perfect.”
The couple’s favorite element of their wedding was undoubtedly the decision to have an outdoor ceremony. With the ocean as a breathtaking backdrop, lush greenery in every photo, a magical sunset, fairy lights illuminating the night sky, it was truly a fairytale come to life. A neutral theme in décor and guests’ attire tied everything together harmoniously.
When it came to Nancy’s stunning gown, designed by the talented Leah da Gloria, she spared no detail. Leah suggested a 10 month period prior to the wedding day to custom make the perfect gown. The gown was an embodiment of timeless elegance and contemporary allure. Using Gazaar fabric, Leah crafted a dress with the drama of a voluminous skirt and long train, while maintaining comfort for the Balinese heat and humidity. The pointed strapless neckline highlighted Nancy’s décolletage, exuding confidence and grace. The veil, embellished to perfection, served as a standout piece during the ceremony, adding a touch of magic to the outdoorsy ambiance as it reflected off the sun. The look was paired with a sleek and sparkly Jimmy Choo heel to accessorize but still keep the dress polished and sexy.
With a magical wedding behind them, Nancy and Damon have some words of wisdom for future brides and grooms-to-be. “Your wedding day is an expression of your love, unity, individuality, and togetherness. Do not do things because you ‘SHOULD,’ but because you ‘CHOOSE’ to. Honor your needs and wants, and don’t let others dictate how to plan, execute, or experience your special day.”
When asked about their favorite moment of the wedding or lead-up, the couple couldn’t help but gush. “Sharing our vows to one another in the ceremony and to our loved ones watching on. We felt very present in that moment and could feel the energy around us. It was surreal. We made it.”
Nancy and Damon’s love story reminds us that love is an extraordinary journey that evolves over time. Their Bali wedding became a celebration of love, unity, and cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
