The Bold Type‘s Katie Stevens is officially a married woman! The actress wed her long-term boyfriend Paul DiGiovanni last week.
Confirmed exclusively by People, the actress and the Boys Like Girls guitarist and music producer said ‘I do’ in front of 250 guests, just outside Nashville, Tennessee.
Stevens’ long lace gown featured a low back with button detailing by Israeli bridal designer, Flora, and jewels by L’Dezen. “I really did keep Paul in mind when I was choosing my dress,” she told the publication. “He’s seen me in so many red carpet looks and gowns and everything in-between, but I wanted to look like the girl he’s in love with [on our wedding day].”
Stevens’ wedding attire was also quite sentimental. As a tribute to her late grandfather, she wore her mother’s veil. “My grandfather stepped on my mom’s veil at her wedding, and since he is no longer with us I wanted to keep that as a little memento to him!” she said. Additionally, Stevens wore her great-grandmother’s crown.
DiGiovanni’s suit was equally sentimental: “Paul’s mom passed away when he was 15, so I just wanted him to feel like she was with us,” she explained. “His aunt gave me a piece of his mum’s wedding dress, and I had it sewn into Paul’s jacket on the inside and covered with a patch.”
The actress walked down the aisle singing to DiGiovanni with the help of her Bold Type co-star Meghann Fahy (AKA Sutton Brady) and close friend, Betty Who (the singer behind the Queer Eye intro sequence).
The bride and groom exchanged their vows in front of their family and friends, which included celebrities such as Sarah Hyland and fiancé Wells Adams. At the reception, the couple had their first dance as husband and wife, to the song I Will Always Be Yours by Ben Rector.
The couple has been dating for 6 years, but Stevens said to People “after dating for a couple months, I knew [he was going to be] my husband.”. She also revealed that she was “in attendance at one of his shows when I was 14 years old,”, according to Us Weekly. “It’s not weird though because we didn’t meet then. We met seven years later.”
