The 9 wedding day signs that your marriage is doomed for divorce

For some real-life couples, the signs that they were doomed for divorce started on their wedding day! Thousands of Reddit wedding guests have shared their own personal stories of the things that couples did on their own wedding day that were major red flags that they were headed for divorce.

1. Betting on the Bride

If the Mother of the Groom is openly against the Marriage on the Wedding day, it’s a sign the relationship is headed for disaster.

destinydivided remembers her own experience, “The groom looked drunk and the bride seemed incredibly angry. Then there was this woman walking around during the reception placing bets on when they would divorce. I later found out she was the mother of the groom.”

vogelarcher15 also had this experience, “At the rehearsal dinner, the groom’s mom is in tears, because “he looks miserable” and he was, we all knew it. During the vows they had written for each other, the bride starts with ‘I know I can be a pretty terrible person, and I don’t know why you’ve stuck around, but that’s all going to change starting today!’ They were divorced a year later.”

2. Kiss and Regret

Watching how the happy couple cope with touching and kissing on the Wedding day is also, supposably, another sign!

unlimitedanna says, “She flinched when he turned to kiss her. They were divorced within six months.”

3. Vile Vows

This one from Owtlaw1is a telltale sign! “The bride had the minister put ‘Til death, or divorce, do us part’ into the ceremony. “

diceorama also had a similar experience, “My mom was at a wedding where the groom said in his vows, ‘I’ll love you as long as it’s convenient.’”

4. Bridesmaids Acting Badly

Obviously a serious ‘no-no’, one Groom was spotted getting amorous with a Bridesmaid! SunkenLoki remembers her experience, “Groom got caught getting frisky with a bridesmaid. That marriage lasted for about two hours.”

5. Pitiful Proposals

Just FYI to guys; never do this! Connundrum1 – “At the end of the reception the guys are sitting at a table away from everyone else talking and we ask the groom why he proposed. His answer? ‘Because she was naked.’ Marriage lasted about a year and a half.”

6. Case of the Giggles

A little nervous laugh is OK, but it seems like you’ve got to keep a cap on it if you want your Marriage to last! c0de76 says, “During the ceremony when the priest started asking the bride ‘Do you take this man to be your…’, she started laughing uncontrollably and couldn’t stop. Is was cute for about 10 seconds and then things got real uncomfortable. They lasted a year and change. We all kinda knew the only reason they were getting married was because she got pregnant.”

7. No Eye Contact

A Wedding musician,  walpolemarsh recalls the relationship he knew wouldn’t last, “The groom didn’t look at the bride once.”

8. Baby Mamas

casualsun, “The groom invited his female friend, she was in the early stages of pregnancy. Towards the end of the night, the bride asked aforementioned friend who the father was. The friend cheerfully said the groom’s name.”

9. Cake Crushing

According to efd0904 , smashing the cake into your significant other’s face isn’t a good start to the Marriage, “Groom mashed the cake into the (pregnant) brides face so hard she went down backwards. Groom and his father ended up fist fighting in the bathroom, cops were called, fun times….”
