Ballard’s 1962 story, which is sure to create fashion history on the Met Gala red carpet. The official Costume Institute exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”.

Could we ever forget Rihanna’s breathtaking entrance in that luxurious yellow Guo Pei cape? This was not just a dress; it was a regal masterpiece that turned heads and set the gold standard for Met Gala fabulousness. Much like most of the celebrities on this list who have owned the red carpet, it’s almost impossible to choose just one of their Met Gala looks. But with her 2019 look, Lady Gaga proved she’s the queen of transformation with not one, not two, but four stunning looks in a single red carpet walk. We knew that with a Camp-inspired theme, Lady Gaga would bring it – and she did in spades.

Iman, 2021 – “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”

Iman floated into the 2021 Met Gala looking nothing short of celestial being in a custom Harris Reed ensemble. Featuring a gold feathered overskirt and a dramatic matching headpiece, it was like watching a sun goddess suddenly appear outside the Metropolitan Museum.

Zendaya, 2019 – “Camp: Notes on Fashion”

Picking our favorite Zendaya from the past week is hard, let alone our favorite Met Gala look! Zendaya transformed into Cinderella, with a light-up Tommy Hilfiger gown that literally sparkled under the stars. With her stylist, Law Roach, as the fairy godmother, it was a magical Met moment that had everyone spellbound.

Queen Bey shimmered in a sheer, bejeweled Givenchy gown that clung perfectly to every curve, proving once again why she’s not just a music queen but a fashion icon too.

Kim Kardashian, 2019 – “Camp: Notes on Fashion”

Another Met Gala fave, Kim Kardashian literally dripped onto the red carpet in her now-iconic Thierry Mugler “wet look” gown. Mimicking water droplets, the gown was a technical marvel and became known as the naked dress. Blake Lively, 2022 – “In America: An Anthology of Fashion”

What’s more American than the Statue of Liberty? Blake Lively paid homage to New York City’s architecture with a gown that transformed before our very eyes. The copper tones unfurled to reveal a breathtaking blue, just like the copper of the Statue of Liberty oxidizing over the years. And with her absence from the Metropolitan Museum of Art red carpet last year, we can’t wait to see her return this year.

Billie Eilish, 2021 – “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”

In 2021, Billie Eilish grew up right in front of our eyes. Embracing a Marilyn Monroe-inspired look, Billie Eilish showed off her softer side in a blush Oscar de la Renta gown, creating one of the most striking transformations we have ever seen.
