Dr Nick Wolfinger from the University of Utah conducted a study in an attempt to find the ‘perfect’ age to get hitched.
Taking data from 2006-2013 which was collected by the United States’ National Survey of Family Growth, Dr Wolfinger found that couples who Married when they were between the ages of 28 and 32 were less likely to get divorced, than those who Married when they were younger than 28 or older than 32.
Dr Wolfinger says that the reason those Marrying in the 28-32 age bracket were more successful is because they are old enough to see past the ‘lust’ hormones, but still young enough to make changes in their lifestyle to accommodate another person (ie. they’re not yet set in their ways). They are also less likely to previously have been Married or have children (which can put extra strain on the new Marriage).
