The deadly and devastating South Australian fires that swept through the state late in November destroyed the lives of so many farmers, but one Roseworthy farmer, Ben Kemp, has managed to give us a positive story from all the heartbreak.

Ben lost 95% of his farmer to the fires, but used the remaining hay that was left on his property to pop the question to his girlfriend Janice Mold.

After travelling in a helicopter over the countryside, Ben steered the pilot towards his property where Janice saw “Will You Marry Me?” spelled out below her.

She said yes.
