Romantic Movies to Binge-Watch Over The Long Weekend

If you’re looking to spend your long weekend buried under the covers and enjoying some much-needed down time, here are some classic rom-coms to keep you entertained all weekend long.

The Kissing Booth

If you’re looking for a feel good, guilty pleasure rom-com, look no further than The Kissing Booth. The Netflix original premiered on May 11 and stars Joey King and Australia’s Jacob Elordi.

This is a modern take on romcom classics such as “Never Been Kissed” and “10 Things I Hate About You.” Be warned though as this movie is ultimate cheese. To give you an idea of how cheesy it gets, this Netflix original was written by fifteen-year-old Beth Reeks and was first published on Wattpad.

The Big Sick

The Big Sick is a based on the real-life love story of Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V Gordon. Nanjiani plays himself in the film and the film is set during his early Nanjiani’s early comedy bar days. He meetings psychology grad student, Emily, played by Zoe Kazan.

The two starts dating however ends up breaking up as Nanjiani comes from a traditional Pakistani family and his family expects him to marry a Pakistani Muslim woman. The film hits its climax when Emily ends up in a coma and Kumail is listed as her emergency contact. This is a heartwarming romcom with plenty of surprises and dramatic twists.  The Big Sick is available on Stan.

Happy Anniversary

Another Netflix original, Happy Anniversary, tackles the age-old relationship problem of what happens when your relationship hits a bad slump. The plot is centered around Sam (played by Ben Schwartz) and Molly’s (Noel Well) third anniversary. With their third anniversary coming up, the couple struggles with keeping their relationship exciting and explores long-term relationship struggles.

The End of the F***ing World

This is a British black-comedy focusing on 17-year-old James, who believes he is a psychopath. Obsessed with killing animals, he decided he wants to kill humans and ends up meeting Alyssa. The two goes away on an adventure and on a road trip across England, with Alyssa unbeknownst that James has intent on killing her.
