Real Wedding: This Wedding is all Glam With a Touch of Geek

This Wedding has all the elements of a classic glam wedding with a touch of…geek.

For this bride and groom, Melina and Ramey, it was important that their Wedding was a true reflection of their personalities. As self-declared geeks, this couple’s love blossomed thanks to their mutual love of Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z. Therefore, it was only natural that their wedding be themed, as Melina perfectly puts it, as “Glam-erd – Glam with a touch of Nerd”.

Their geek-chic Wedding however, was just the icing of their love story so far. Ramey’s elaborately planned proposal was nothing short of amazing, with a series of clue boxes and outfit changes as well. Treating Melina to a trip to a llama farm after a hard week of work, they spent some time canoodling with the llamas before Ramey popped the question asking Melina to make him “the happiest Egyptian in the world”. Next Ramey had organised a romantic picnic, followed by a 4-hour trip to a day spa, which lead to a surprise engagement party. “Truly a day I can never forget!” exclaims Melina.

Their wedding was just as special. Having mixed cultures Persian, Turkish and Egyptian, as well as coming from different religions they decided to have two ceremonies. “We had double the blessings, so it must be good luck”, says Melina. The reception was a blend of their vibrant cross-cultural backgrounds filled with “lots of giggles and laughter and so many drums”. It was styled with lush brightly coloured florals, with touches of their personally designed pixel characters.

Melina wore a gorgeous custom designed Olga Blinova dress, with a sweetheart cut lace bodice and mermaid tulle skirt. Ramey also opted for custom-made suits for himself and his groomsmen.

“I feel our wedding was truly unique because we spent a lot of time ensuring our personality was put into every aspect…Everything was just us”.
