This wedding exudes romance with its vintage vibes and dreamy Italian backdrop.
After only dating for two weeks Philipp and Sarah knew that they had some sort of magical connection. Sarah originally from the U.S. and Philipp originally from Germany met in Italy whilst on business. With only a few days before Sarah’s return to the U.S. on a beach in Sardinia, the two decided that they would marry and as the saying goes, the rest was history.
“Over the next three months we fell in love in Amalfi, picked out rings together in Berlin, and said our first I ‘love you’ in Spain”, explains Sarah. Until the faithful day when Philipp concocted an elaborate outing that involved a watercolour caricature and a walk to the top of Mt. Royal, to officially propose. “I was completely taken back because I assumed there would not be a proposal considering we already decided to get married and were telling people and picked out the rings…”
And so it was only fitting that they have their family join them in Italy to celebrate their union. The wedding itself was a culmination of beautiful vintage elements that were both beautiful and sentimental and very much followed the wedding parable ‘something old, something new, something borrowed something blue’. Sarah’s wedding dress and Juliette cap were in fact from her mother’s own wedding – true vintage pieces. “The appliqué on the dress were hand sewn on by my great great aunts and my grandmother”. Complimenting her own pearl engagement ring, she wore her Grandmother’s pearl earrings.
And the ‘something new’ element you ask? Sarah’s second wedding dress of course! “The day we decided to get married we stopped into a boutique where I tried on the short, adorable white, sweetheart cut, ruffly dress…we both felt it was meant-to-be for our impromptu wedding. Unfortunately, the dress was unavailable in my size. Later, when I was in the states and Philipp was in Germany I received a package in the mail with a beautiful love letter about the exciting adventure we were embarking on together and beautifully packaged was the dress in my size, it fit perfectly!”
And certainly the ‘something blue’ was the deep blue waters of the Amalfi coast. “We had people traveling from all over for a four night celebration. A great feeling to be with close friends and family from different cultures”.
Hope all you Fairies are inspired by this vintage beauty.
