Real Wedding: A traditional Wedding with a modern twist

For Alex and Cherie an entertaining Wedding was a must, but to have a modern Wedding that embodied their cultural traditions and reflected their love was just as important.

Cherie’s Jordanian/Palestinian background and strong culture meant that by 11am a swarm of approximately 80 immediate family members had gathered, excitedly waiting to get a glimpse of the stunning Bride. Alex on the other hand didn’t escape tradition either, with over 100 family members arriving at his house to celebrate with Cypriot Wedding traditions.

Once Cherie walked out of her house for the last time as a ‘single lady’, it was time for the traditional church ceremony at St Nicholas church. With the helping hand of Wedding planner Zayna Fratto, the couple decided to highlight the traditional and stunning icons of the church by keeping the floral decorations to a minimum.

Later that night, Alex and Cherie walked into their reception to the exhilarating sound of Lebanese drummers and an Arabic band, and they were blown away by the transformation of the room. The glamorous floral ceiling and personalised white dance floor, reflected their vision perfectly!

Throughout the night, guests were kept on their feet with ongoing musical entertainment flowing seamlessly between the different cultures.

Reflecting back one of the most special moments of the night Cherie told Wedded Wonderland “Although 300+ eyes were watching us it felt as though we were the only people in the room. It was a few minutes to absorb the reality that we were now husband and wife”.
