Real Wedding: A Magical Destination Wedding in Beirut!

Although Caroline and Daan met and became friends 18 years ago, the unpredictable ventures of life saw the pair drifting to unlikely pathways. It wasn’t until three years ago that they once again locked eyes and experienced an electric connection.

On December 17^th 2016, Daan arranged a mysterious night that to Caroline seemed rather odd. He told her that a friend’s art exposition was being showcased at the very club they met in. He then ensured that the club was empty when they arrived before proposing in the exact same spot that the couple met each other on three years ago. Thrilled and shocked to her core, Caroline let out an overjoyed ‘yes!’ before embracing her husband-to-be. Soon after the loving couple were joined friends and family aboard a cruise through the Amsterdam canals in celebration.

Caroline and Daan’s Magical Destination Wedding was brought to life by the awe-inspiring work of Strawberries & Champagne. Three days of pre-wedding bonding experiences were designed to mix cultures and families, yet still retain the essence of a Lebanese wedding. Strawberries and Champagne‘s team of expert event stylists ensured that not a single luxury was spared, with guests treated to a host of lavish affairs and left well prepared for a weekend filled with celebrations!

On the day of the big event, S&C created an ingenious set up that was a clear crowd pleaser – three levels of nuptial celebrations made possible by a spectacular outdoor venue overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Guests were welcomed one level one with cocktails, a hand written note, and a pouch filled with wedding survival essentials – including personalised ‘do not disturb’ hangers, hand-held fans, mints, tissues and of course a hangover kit! Don’t you just wish you attended, Fairies?

The second floor hosted the emotion-filled ceremony during a breathtakingly beautiful romantic sunset, while a stunning reception and dining experience was held on the final level.and bore a striking resemblance to the club that the happy couple met at. With an open air roof dotted with suspended lights and a spectacular view of the village and ocean below, this gorgeous outdoor area was understandably a guest favourite. A ‘magic’ theme was reflected throughout the reception, with shades of black and gold, 836 softly glowing light bulbs, flickering candles and exotic florals arrangements setting the scene.

Guests were kept amused during dinner by a wandering magician who surprised and tricked the happy couple’s family and friends, which laughter and amazement ringing throughout the pavilion. As a form of memorabilia, guests were also encouraged to take a Polaroid magnetic photo throughout the night, while a firework show at the conclusion of the affair was the perfect way to send off the newlyweds. Bride Caroline told Wedded Wonderland that the most memorable moment of the day was being able to showcase her self-created ‘Why to marry Daan Dia’, which involved friends and family telling her why she should tie the knot.

Surely someone must have mentioned how gorgeous the big day was going to be!
