In an exclusive interview between Wedded Wonderland and Lebanese American designer Rami Kadi himself, we got some insights into the current and upcoming trends in bridal fashion as well as diving deep into the production of some of the breathtaking gowns from the Cannes Film Festival.
What were the most prominent trends at this year’s Cannes Film Festival? Could you elaborate on specific styles and themes that stood out to you?
Rami Kadi shared “At Cannes this year, simplicity and elegance were the name of the game, with a focus on clean lines, minimalist cuts, and luxurious fabrics.”
“Stars graced the red carpet in outfits that exuded sophistication through their understated designs, proving that less can indeed be more. Cannes truly celebrated the beauty of refined simplicity and conscious fashion choices.”
We loved Dy Miryan’s bridal inspired ensemble! Tell us what inspired this look?
Rami Kadi explains that Dy Miryan’s captivating ensemble drew inspiration from the essence of timeless elegance and romantic allure, reminiscent of classic wedding gowns. “The pearly white gown, with its dewy effect, exuded femininity through its graceful cut and subtle detailing.”
“With layers of soft, flowing fabric, the design created a dreamy and enchanting aesthetic. This look was crafted to evoke a sense of grace and sophistication, allowing Dy Miryan to shine with ethereal beauty on the red carpet.”
We also would love to know more about Yaya Tongliya’s ice green corset and all the delicate beadwork! How long did it take to create this ensemble and what was the inspiration behind the design?
“Yaya Tongliya’s ice green corset ensemble from the “Les Miroirs” collection was a labor-intensive piece, fully embroidered with delicate beadwork. The inspiration behind the design was a blend of ethereal fantasy and modern elegance, drawing from the serene beauty of AlUla, Saudi Arabia” shared Rami Kadi.
“The dress features intricate floral embroidery, shimmering crystals, sequins, and pearls, creating a dazzling, textured effect. The corset was designed to accentuate Yaya’s figure, while the flowing, layered skirt adds softness.”
“This ensemble merges traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, resulting in a timeless and avant-garde look.”
What are your thoughts on AI-generated dress designs and the new 3D-printed dress?
Rami Kadi expresses that AI-generated designs and 3D-printed dresses are revolutionizing the fashion industry analyzing data and predicting trends. “It’s crucial to understand how to translate these digital designs into physical garments.”
“3D printing offers a sustainable approach to garment construction, reducing waste and production time while allowing for intricate structures. Together, these technologies are transforming the industry, offering personalized experiences and innovative solutions to traditional challenges in fashion design.”
What was your favorite Met Gala look?
Rami Kadi shared with us “My favorite Met Gala look was Mona Patel’s ethereal gown. She rocked an Iris Van Herpen creation that perfectly captured the theme’s essence.”
“The strapless neckline and corset bodice, resembling delicate butterfly wings, were a dreamy interpretation of the theme in a technologically innovative technique which is something I am always keen on incorporating in my designs.”
“The dress was adorned with intricate detailing and textured lace, adding an enchanting touch to her look. It was like something out of a fairytale.”
