Can we legalise our marriage documents in Chiang Mai?
Yes. Chiang Mai has a Ministry of Foreign Affairs legalisation office, so your translated embassy documents can be legalised there before you register at a district office (Amphoe). You still need a freedom-to-marry document from your own embassy first, which for Australians means the Embassy in Bangkok or the Consulate-General in Phuket. Allow about a week in Thailand for the process.
What happens in a Lanna wedding ceremony in Chiang Mai?
It follows northern Thai custom, opening with the Khan Mak procession and moving to the Bai Sri Su Kwan blessing, a wrist-binding ritual for the couple. At Veranda High Resort the events team sets up the ceremony, the styling and the menus on site, so the whole day runs in one place.
