Picture your wedding at Villa Michaela
An 18th-century frescoed villa in the hills of Vorno near Lucca, with its own Lorenzo Nottolini chapel and room for 35 to stay.
Your wedding
Villa Michaela is an 18th-century frescoed villa in Vorno, in the hills outside Lucca, surrounded by olive groves and pine woods. Its defining feature is the chapel designed by Lorenzo Nottolini, the architect behind much of neoclassical Lucca, which seats 80 for the ceremony. Couples who prefer the open air can marry outdoors instead.
Your stay
The main villa has 12 double bedrooms, 10 of them en suite, each decorated in a mix of Tuscan and British style, plus extra beds for children. Casa Una, a farmhouse in the grounds, adds 4 doubles and a triple, all en suite, with its own kitchen, dining room and a garden terrace with a pizza oven. Together they sleep 35.

The villa's own wedding planners and chefs handle menus, flowers and musicians, and the kitchen caters for up to 120 guests. After the vows, guests drift out for drinks among the olive trees, then sit down to a long Tuscan dinner in the grounds, with the hills and the Apuan Alps in view. A minimum stay of 3 nights applies, or 2 nights midweek and from mid-October to mid-May, so most couples plan a welcome evening and a recovery lunch around the main day.
Guests spend the days at the pool and tennis court, in the billiard and games rooms, on morning hikes into the pine forests, or at cooking classes and wine tastings the team can arrange. Lucca's walls are a short drive away.
