You arrive in Malaysia's capital and settle into your hotel.
Day 2 · Kuala Lumpur
You look out from the Petronas Twin Towers, visit the Islamic Arts Museum and browse the Central Market. The afternoon is free before a welcome dinner.
Sandakan
Day 3 · Sandakan
You fly to Sandakan and watch the afternoon feeding at the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Over dinner, a speaker explains how palm oil has changed the island.

Day 4 · Sandakan and Kinabatangan River
The founder of the sun bear centre talks about the world's smallest bear. A speedboat then takes you up the Kinabatangan to your lodge for a night cruise.

Day 5 · Kinabatangan River
Morning and afternoon cruises take you looking for proboscis monkeys, orangutans, hornbills and crocodiles. Between them you walk the lodge boardwalk and hear a naturalist talk about orangutans.
Danum Valley
Day 6 · Danum Valley
You drive to Lahad Datu and continue by 4x4 to your lodge in ancient rainforest. A nature walk and a night drive show you the valley's wildlife.
Day 7 · Danum Valley
You walk the canopy walkway among the treetops. In the afternoon you take a guided trail or relax at the lodge.
Kota Kinabalu
Day 8 · Kota Kinabalu
You fly from Lahad Datu to Kota Kinabalu and have the evening free by the South China Sea.
Day 9 · Kota Kinabalu
You visit Mari Mari to see homes built by descendants of Sabah's peoples, then have time to yourself before a farewell dinner.
Day 10 · Kota Kinabalu
After breakfast, a private transfer takes you to the airport.
