A 174-acre private island in the Mamanucas with 65 thatched bures, beach ceremonies, a warrior escort and the island's own family choir.
Castaway Island weddings use the whole island. Couples can marry on the beach for an intimate ceremony, or at the Mokimokiti Cabana, a traditionally thatched pavilion on a raised platform with views in every direction, which converts from ceremony to reception and works whatever the weather. Traditional touches set the tone: 2 warriors escort the bride, and the Castaway Island family choir sings during the ceremony.
The resort has 65 free-standing bures with thatched roofs and vaulted ceilings lined with hand-painted tapa cloth, each one different. They sit in tropical gardens or at the water's edge, with categories including Island, South Beach, North Beach, Ocean View South Beach, Family Beach and Grand bures.
Afterwards, the newlyweds take a champagne cruise around the island by speedboat, a long-standing Castaway tradition, while guests gather for dinner. Restaurant 1808 seats up to 100 on the sand, with an outdoor kitchen where guests watch the chefs at work as the sun sets. Smaller groups can have a secluded beach dinner set with fresh flowers and soft lighting. A private wedding coordinator manages the day, and the couple are escorted to the registry office from Nadi or Denarau beforehand.
Kayaks, snorkelling gear and paddle boards are complimentary, and there is a PADI dive operation, tennis, beach volleyball and a hiking trail. The Fijian Cultural Day covers cooking, storytelling and kava, and an excursion visits Modriki, where scenes from the film Castaway were shot. Children have the Castaway Kids Club.
