What a week it has been for exciting baby news! Reality queen Kim Kardashian West and her husband Kanye West are set to welcome their third baby. The baby will be born via a surrogate and expected due date is January 2018.
If you’ve been keeping up with the Kardashian-West family then you’ll know that Kim has had a long struggle with trying to fall pregnant and an even harder struggle to find the right surrogate to carry the baby. “The entire family is over the moon. Kim had been looking for a surrogate for months until recently when she found the perfect candidate”, an insider has told PEOPLE.

The couple has opted for a surrogate due to life threatening complications in Kim’s previous pregnancies. Whilst pregnant with North and Saint she was diagnosed with the rare condition pre-eclampsia and suffered through the harrowing experience of placenta accreta.
Pre-eclampsia is a condition that affects about 5 per cent of pregnant women and causes serious complications for both the mother and baby. According to Kim the condition causes the impaired function of vital organs and constricted blood vessels, which in turn reduces the blood flow and most importantly the oxygen, to the baby. Placenta accreta is the condition where the placenta grows into the uterine wall and during delivering part or all of the placenta does not separate.
“My doctor had to stick his entire arm in me and detach the placenta with his hand, scraping it away from my uterus with his fingernails”, Kim explains. “I still had a piece of placenta attached inside of me and I had to have surgery to remove it”.

After suffering such a traumatic experience doctors have advised her not to take the risk of carrying another baby. But finding the ‘perfect’ surrogate has been difficult since the star couple was very strict on what they wanted and now that their surrogate is pregnant Kim has brought it up a notch.
According to an insider, Kim is providing a strict eating regimen and diet so she has control over what the baby is consuming. The surrogate must not smoke, drink or do any drugs during her pregnancy and is banned from hot tubs, hair dye and eating raw fish.
It seems that Kimye are taking no risks with this new baby.
