You will look at your wedding photos for the rest of your life. But years from now, it may be a scent that takes you straight back to the day: the fragrance you wore as you walked down the aisle, noticed again on a scarf or in a crowded room.
Few people understand that connection better than Julia Brown. The co-founder of Melbourne perfume house Mihan Aromatics built her brand around the link between scent and memory, and in November she joins the line-up at Wedded World Melbourne. Follow Mihan on Instagram at @mihanaromatics.
Julia co-founded Mihan Aromatics in Melbourne in 2017 with her husband, Josh Mihan. Alongside the brand, she works as a neurorehabilitation physiotherapist, and that is where the idea began. Working in a London neurorehabilitation hospital, she saw how aroma could help patients recovering from brain injuries reach memories and emotions.
That experience still shapes every Mihan parfum. As the brand puts it: "Memory lives in the body. So does scent."

Mihan's parfums are made at a 30% concentration using Australian organic sugarcane alcohol, then hand-filled in small batches in Melbourne. They are genderless, vegan and cruelty-free, and many are inspired by Australian landscapes and coastlines.
Kirra Curl, for example, was born from the energy of the Australian coastline and 1970s surf culture: sea salt, lemon rind, leather, surf wax and vanilla. Sienna Brume is softer and cooler, with cucumber, creamy coconut and sea air.
There is no formula. You may already wear something you love, or you may want a scent that belongs to this chapter of your life. Some couples choose complementary fragrances; others wear completely different ones. What matters is that you still love it in ten or twenty years.
A few ways to start:
Notice what you already like wearing and describe why, using words like fresh, woody, soft or warm.
Think about when you will wear it: just the ceremony, the whole weekend, or something to return to on every anniversary.
Try a discovery set or a travel size first, so you can live with a scent for a few days before deciding.
If you are choosing a gift for your partner, remember their preferences may be very different from yours.
Mihan's seven-vial Discovery Set and 10ml travel sprays make that kind of testing easy, and a travel size fits in a clutch for touch-ups on the day.
Julia is part of the Wedded World Melbourne line-up, taking place on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2026 at 1 Hotel Melbourne in Docklands. The event is built around The Wedded Salon Experience: four intimate 2.5-hour sessions, each bringing fashion, beauty, wellness and travel into one room.
Inside, you can watch couture runway moments from designers including Steven Khalil, Vera Wang and BERTA, try hair, skin and wellness experiences before you book them, and sit down for travel and honeymoon consultations. Every session includes time with Wedded Concierge, gifting, tastings and event-only offers you won't find anywhere else.
